Went to a meet lastnight in south florida over on Glades and 441. My friend matt has a Lexus ES300, and two of his friends have Ford Focuses.

The guy i raced has Intake, Exhaust, Headers and chip. I asked how much HP hes at at the wheels. He said about 170. Matt automatically says "You should race Serge." He asks what i have. I say "A 96 328i." He gave the ole smirk and pshh. At this point that pissed me off kinda. ANyways, the cops come to break the meet up so we head down to the back up location.

Were about a mile away and were both lined up at a light. I give him the look and nod. He starts to rev. The fart can is really bothering me already.

I shift into First (auto). Hold down the Brake and Keep the reves between 1000 and 2000. The light changed really quick and i didnt see it commin. He got a car lead on me from the light. Shifted to Second and he stopped pulling. At the top of second i started to gain and at the beginning of third i had about a quarter of a car on him. In the middle of third i had about half a car to a car on him, so i shut down. At the next light he was like "Damn, tahts pretty fast!"

After that he was cool with me.

Then later on the way home on I95. The ES300 and I lined up at about 60. I usually got the drop so im fairly confident thats why i kept winning. I wanna race him from a dig.

Im stock, btw.

170 to the wheels? I thought only an SVT might put down #'s like that. Sounds like you had fun though!

Well with the mods he has i dont doubt it. But there was another Focus there, this guy had friggen, Port polish, shaved head, cams, headers, exhaust, chip and intake. We were all impressed with the list of mods.

Then he was like, yeah, i get about 165 at the wheels. I was like "wtf". Matt was talking to my friend with a slightly modded SVT *RACE HIM RACE HIM RACE HIM*

The focus guy with the long list of mods is probably telling the truth with the 165whp.

THe guy you raced is probably lucky to have 170chp. He is probably like many ricers who just make a number, by adding up the hp numbers all the products they get off ebay say they will have.

The SVT Focus is 170chp stock. So how does taking, what I'm guessing is a zx3, adding intake, exhaust, headers, and chip push him up to 170whp, when a zx3 has like 140chp stock. :confused

So yeah, all you did was slap down a dumb ricer, while getting to talk to a real enthusiast with what seems to be a nice ass car, by reading his mod list.:)

Just saw the guy today. I was wrong about a few things. The guy i beat has a Durex or somecrap Focus. Intake, Exhaust, and Headers. My other friend, the one with the focus i didnt race, is a Steeda focus. I think all he has is an Intake. He usually beats the guy with the Durex.

Reason i got confused is becasue we met another focus at the meet and he had all this rediculous engine work like cams, shaved head, port/polish, intake, exhaust, chip... and he was only getting like, 150hp.

my apologies. but still. A kill is a kill. Just ordered my intake a few minutes ago. And next week im gonna order the SHark Injector. We'll see what happens :-D

Hey man like you said a kill is a kill. Nothing like getting the blood pumping. My first kill in my car was a riced out mid 90's civic. Which isnt much of a kill but hey. Nice kill man.

I didn't know steeda made a focus, but I also don't pay much attention to focus'. :)

I can tell you what will happen when you install the shark and intake. Your car will get louder over a certain rpm limit (varies by intakes), it may feel a bit more rev happy, and you can now go past your governed speed. :stickoutt

Nothing wrong with that, whatsoever! Im hoping to get a nice increase in torque and ponies.

that is what I'm saying, dont expect good gains. Intake, exhaust and chip get maybe a combined 15whp if you get all the right ones.

That is being very optimistic. Intake (doesn't matter which you get) will net you perhaps 5whp. Some companies swear up and down they get 10whp. so maybe 5-10whp, depending on which one. That is being optimistic for the latter number. Chip doesn't do much, just removes govern, raises rev limiter, and does sort of it's own lil mini tune to your car. Exhausts, best I've seen was a 7whp gain. Well I don't have it bookmarked here. But back home I had a site, it was a magazine, that did an exhaust shootout for e36 m3. THey did many common ones. I know my Rogue DMS was rated for 5 whp and 5wtq. One of the highest hp ones was like 7whp but had like 3 tq. Some had like 1 whp gain. THey varied.

Best bang for buck mod would be gearing.

Like I was saying, your engine will get louder over a certain rpm (my racing dynamics gets loud at 4k rpm, my buddy's dinan does it after like 2k or 2.5k) and you may "feel" like your car is a bit faster.

How would i handle the gearing? Message me on AIM if you can. SergeTheBlade.

I can't do AIM, I'm having to do Bf.c through proxify.com right now.

I don't know exactly how to do the gearing. I haven't done it. I heard if you are decently handy with a wrench, then you can get it done in a few hours.

The person to talk to is TheMadHatter. He has done a ton to his car, and was the one telling me about diff swaps before i finally discarded the idea. PM him, he'll probably be glad to answer your questions.
