That is a very good price on that Brembo brake kit.

Alternative, TAR*OX has a 6-piston kit utilizing a two-piece 325mmx26mm rotor, which will fit under the factory 17" wheel, for $2199.00, list price. I could certainly offer this kit to bimmerforums.com members for $1999.00, if I can get an order for at least 3 kits. Lead time is about one month, as each kit is made to order in Italy.

As an aside, the most impressive thing about the TAR*OX kits, aside from the excellent workmanship, is that the rotors appear to be made of very high quality metal, such that they wear far slower than other types of rotors, including Brembo rotors. I had a Brembo GT (4-piston with 12.9" x-drilled rotors) on my NSX, and after two sets of pads, the rotors were scored (using a track/street hybrid compound) and quite worn. With the TAR*OX kit, after 30,000 miles and on the 5th set of pads (same compound), and 8 track events, the rotors are barely worn; this is a plus, considering the cost of new rotors (~$275).

Cobalt, what other rotor sizes does Tarox offer as far as the rotors?? Wow the caliper fits under stock 17" wheels......can you post a picture of the kit or caliper, please :)?

Thanks

Thank God for the Super Moderators! :-)

Apologizes for the delayed response...did not realize this thread was started.

On the E36 BMW brake kits from TAROX, the rotor size that will fit under the OE 17" wheel is 325mm X 26mm, and the rotor size for an 18" wheel is 340mm X 30mm.

The other brake kit I have is a Cobalt Racing Brakes 4-Piston Kit (based on a Ferrari F50 caliper design), which uses either a 332mm X 32mm rotor or a 355mm X 32mm rotor.

Availability of the TAR*OX kit is 4-5 weeks after ordering, as they come from Italy and are made to order only. The Cobalt Racing Brakes Kit should be a stocking item in various fitments within 2 months. I will try to have pictures of the TAR*OX kit for you soon...the pics will be from my Acura NSX, and not a BMW. I am guaranteed fitment by TAR*OX on their 6-piston kit, but have not installed one personally on an E36.

I'm working on putting up a web page with pictures of the different brake kits that I have for BMW fitments. Give it a couple weeks +...and I'll have something online. -Andie

You will be very happy with the Stoptech kit, which is a kit that I recommend highly. Cobalt will be releasing its own brake upgrade kits, all manufactured to exacting standards...stay tuned.

I will have a web page set up in approximately 2 weeks with information about the various brake kits Cobalt offers for BMW's.

Apologies for the delay.

I expect the Cobalt Brake Systems 4-piston BMW E36 M3 kit in 2 weeks...I have 2-3 buyers for the kits, so after they load them on their M3's, I'm sure we'll have pictures. As soon as the kits arrive, I'll have pics of all the parts.

The TAROX kit I won't be able to get pictures of unless someone orders one...as it is not a stocking item. I will have a pic of a TAROX NSX kit (uses the same calipers and rotor design - only difference is the brackets, lines, hats, etc.). I am taking delivery of a TAROX order in 4 weeks.

In terms of availability of parts, etc...the Cobalt Brake Systems kit will be the best choice -- it is guaranteed for the highest quality, which is the only thing I will sell.

Andie....I see you sell Tarox, Brembo and AP big brake kits yet your web page ( http://www.cobaltfriction.com/prod-cat/big_brake_kits.htm ) shows 2 pictures of Movit 6-piston kits which you copied off of my website. You should remove these pictures and replace them with photo's of the kits that you offer. Thanks. SD/Movit North America

Steve... Yes, you are correct. Those were taken from a scrapbook awhile ago, and will soon be replaced. Apologies, and thanks. -Andie
