I know this is a PnP for CAN bus, but would it fit a 2000 e46 323ci? im not exactly sure if the CAN bus was 2002+ or what. tia

The way I see it is as long as you can find CAN HI and CAN LO, you should be good to go. Now, if AIM recommends only 2002+, it's not implying that CANBus is absent from pre 2002 models, it's just (most probably) implying that they can't crack the identifier codes for pre 2002 models. IMO, it doesn't really hurt to try. CAN HI and LO are just a pair of signals running an average of 2.5V each.
