well this was my second race of the day, but it was a death. i came up behind a yellow GTO( note: this was an auto that just had the left side dual tip exhaust, not the dual exhaust). so he when we got onto rt. 29 he immediately hit it and i wasn't paying attention so i got a late start. he slowed up and got into the right lane. he gave me a thumbs up on my car:D . i pointed ahead of me as to say "let's go" and he nodded his head.

we punched it at about the same time with a slight advantage to me. we started at about 60mph and i shut it down at 105mph. we were neck and neck to about 95, but by the time i was at 105mph he had me by a good cl. it was obvious to me that i could not keep up with the power of the goat. i can't imagine what the fastest version would do to me:eek: . we exchanged thumbs up and he mouthed to me that my car was fast. it was a good death i think.

Sounds like you did pretty damn good to me. Im sure the faster you went the faster he would pull though. From a dig Im sure you could very well against one. I imagine it would take a while for one to catch you.

yep you raced the 350hp version....mid 13s in the 1/4 and pull strong up top.

You can get a brand new 05 for about 27. Used they can be fund for under 25. Not a bad deal.

The GTO is MUCH quicker than the HEMI Charger. AND GTO is cheaper. And looks BETTER. Overall, GTO's are a nice toy.

how would the fastest version of the goat do against a manual C5?

I also got a quick race in with a gto recently, quick cars, I've seen some fast ones, but the one I raced was the 5.7 (stock)and I was nosing ahead a little by 100, and was a couple cars by 130. the 6.0 would probably be faster than me.

hey I3it3r, what stage are you? at what mph did you start the race from? even if you are stock, i believe what you are claiming cause i think that a slightly modded srt-4 will pull on my car top end. now i have never raced one passed 100 mph, but what i raced srtipp he started to get me when we reached triple digits but then we shut it down. i wanna race an srt-4 into the triples to see if i really do lose or if i can gain back the ground.

as for the top end, how fast can you go with the 3.38? I've had the srt-4 over 160 with stock gearing.. and I had it up the 140 mark just the other day for good measure on 123, from the light just south of the ffx county parkway to the next light 0-140-0 with out a problem

well i have had my car at 140mph before the tms chip and that was all that i could go( i was at redline in 5th). i read on a thread somewhere here that with a chip i could hit 152mph. now i don't plan on getting it there cause i am more of a 1/4 mile guy or twisties guy. although when i race in any twisties it will only be on a track, cause you never know what is around the corner that you are takin at 100mph( could be a family broken down). i always think of things like that soo i will only take twisties fast when i go to a track.

Yeah I have to agree with WardVette the C5 is alot more lightweight than a GTO.

Sorry pal your a little off on that one. The vette would destroy the gto off the line. If the goat had any chance it would be top end but even then its not gonna keep up with the vette. Even the ls1 f-bodies kill the 5.7 GTO's without sweating.

The M6 C5's are closer to the LS2 GTOs

LS1 goats you can get cheap. They didn't sell at all, and dealers were pretty much giving them away to sell them. People found out the LS2 was coming out, and didn't want to buy. They look good, sound mean, and I'd much rather have one of those than a SRT vehicle (other than viper of course.....no offense to neon guys either...just my preference). They are capable cars, but not ahead of the pack by any means. They are sub par to their vette counterparts in terms of speed and handling, but meh....for the price.....it is great.

If I didn't have my M, I think I would be driving a 2003 to 2005 Mustang cobra....I absolutley love their aggressive look, the 398hp, and the easy modifications that can run some serious horsepower.

I like the GTO as well, but I'm a grandson of a Ford worker and like the Z plans...

You're right, I don't know much about the car period....but you get my drift...whatever freaking mustang that looks like yours and puts down 390 with a supercharger...better?:)

ag, I figure it would be a relatively close race. Probably still in mustangs favor. But with weights and gearing etc. vs a stock 03 Cobra though, once you mod it, then it still would be no contest. :)

Also I honestly have no clue if it would be a close race, just guessing it would be. If he had a TT Stg 1 kit, it would definately be a good race, maybe even having the M3 win.

Actually, I have more HP now that I'm boosting 10PSI consistently. The dyno I had is kind of misleading because I was boosting up to 7.5 psi, but the boost would fall off fast. I would like to try and race one...but noone wants to run around here I guess?:)

To answer your questions, yes, I went 162mph in my srt-4, it only took 3 miles to get on the highway, get to speed, cruise at 160 for a while and brake to get off at the next exit. There is no electronic limiter. Next time I'm THINKING about going that fast, I'll video tape it. I have many videos laying around here somewhere of me doing 150+ but 160 just isn't nessecary.
