Ok so my car was idling rough and I had a misfire (3rd cylinder), So I took it to the stealer and had them look over my car and see what wrong with it.(96 328i) I was told that I have no compression what so ever in my 3rd cylinder, which was obviously causing the misfire. I have already changed the coil pack and have put new spark plugs in.
Bottom line I need help ASAP...Where do I start? Worse case senario, how much is this going to cost me? Best case senario? Im very worried that this is going to cost me a fortune....:(
Any and all input is much appreciated
If anyone can give me the number to a shop in the area that can help me or anyone that can do this work themselves, please let me know...

do yourself a favor and go to advance auto parts, pep boy or any other in your area. buy a compression tester and do a compression check. se what the car is doing before you start to worry.

bottom line is if there right your talking big money. either rebuild the motor or get a new one.it does make sense what there saying but try it out yourself before you go spending thousands.

I have a snap-on scanner, i can try to help you for free to scan most of the problem...but the bad part is! i lost the adaptor :( and it might cost me $95 to get a new 1...
Could be a bunch of things. If the dealer wasn't "BS'ing" you and you really have low compression in cylinder 3 its not going to be a cheap easy fix. Could be a valve or head gasket. The worst case is the $$$ best case you get some new parts and the car running again. If you are not far from 07065 I could help you out.

I really appreciate it, just let me know if you happen to find the adapter.
