View Full Version : Ruji Poster List - E30 and E36

Hey guys,

This thread is in reference to the original ruji poster thread (http://bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=433774) and is concerned with gauging interest for E36 and E30 options.

I have e-mailed him, and have had the following respose..

Honestly, if I had an image of an e30 or e36 that I felt was worthy of a poster, I would print it. Since I don’t, I would need to schedule in a shoot and I am booked through late April. The earliest I could shoot an e30/e36 would late April. In terms of interest, I would be happy if 50 people expressed in interest. My printer will do a minimum of 500 prints and the profit margin on the poster is already incredibly low as is.

So, in order for us to have these posters in the future, please vote yes only if you are willing to pay around $15 (plus p&p) to recieve a poster of similar quality/style.

Below are two of the posters he has at the moment which are amazing.

Thanks for reading:D

I think an awesome idea would be to get one each E30, E36, and E46 M3 lined up or staged nicely, with a title of "Heritage" or something cool like that. Same could be done with the other M cars. We do this type of thing in the Air Force with several different aircraft (IE: P-47, F-105, and an A-10) in formation being called a heritage flight. Judging from the guys other posters, these could be amazing. I'd definitely take a couple for when I get in my dorm room in Korea. It would help me deal with being away from my cars.

Ah - im not really advertising tho - like ive asked him if he could do more posters of Bimmers, and the answer was he needs enough numbers..

So its not really advertising.. but maybe some kinda groupbuy feeler? Is that okay? I mean what do you want me to do? I want posters. We all want posters. And if i cant talk about it, i cant get them!

Im not doing it for financial gain - if you see the other thread, its purely so that i can have a badass picture of other bimmers. Plus i never mentioned his websites name etc.. so yeah.

I hope we can get enough people interested to have some done in the future tho.. E39 might be nice too - he's already got pics of that one E39 i posted above..

Ah nice response rate! Only a few more and we got ourselves a convincing argument! Whens the next bimmerfest-esque meet where wynn could hypothetically go to get a few bimmer shots done at one time?

great idea, i'd buy one maybe even two. The only problem is we have to wait for someone to call up Wynn to schedule a photoshoot, and thats not cheap :(

Dnz
01-20-2006, 06:44 PM
No, i dont think this is referring to the whole photoshoot package thing he 'does'. It is producing a 'mass produced' poster like the 4 he has at the moment - hence the cost of $15+p&p rather than 2500 plus airfares!

I think the main criteria is hawtness.

Jon's car is pretty much undeniably hot.. http://jonsibal.com/

Otherwise bfc has plenty of awesome cars.

Im thinking if he needed an op to shoot a few cars, and borrow the car/owner for a few hours - an event like a car club meet/bimmerfest would be suitable.. That way he could snap several types of BMW, and get a good range to take photos of, and see what works for him.

I think its gonna be easy to get a car - its all about the photographer/backgrounds/technique etc.

Hi everyone, sorry for jumping in so late on this. It's great to see so much feedback.

DNZ, what a surprise - thanks for posting this up! I don't want to violate any of the forum rules here, so I'm not quite sure how to go about this. Perhaps I could put a quick blog on my site that would allow for comments..? I'll think about this some more.

Just a general update on what's been going on. Fortunately, 06 is turning out to be a very busy year. I'm doing some nice work and momentum seems to be really building. Because of this, I haven't had much, if any, time to devote to the posters. My business is based primarily on assignment and stock photography, and while I love printing and offering the posters up, it brings in very little revenue, yet takes so much time to do.

But I can't tell you guys how surprised I was by the feedback. It really makes it all worthwhile. I was hoping to have 4 more printed by Christmas, but just couldn't get it done.

So here's what I'm thinking, I'm going to hit up some of the local schools and see if a student is interested in interning at RUJI. Duties would include dealing with the print store only, and some light phone work. Print store duties:receiving the order, packing it (I take packing very seriously :) ), and shipping - although I plan on switching to UPS with the next batch, which would save time running to the post office.

If I can find someone, I can have a new set of posters as early as mid-feb. These will be of images that I currently have on hand.

Now that I know there is enough interest for an e30 and/or e36 poster, I can began to prep for a shoot. Earliest that the shoot could take place is late April. From now until then, I'll start gathering a list of cars and conduct a poll of sorts to see which is the most popular.

Thanks again for all the support guys - looking forward to doing the e30/e36 shoot.

-Wynn

p.s. - sending an email direct to me or calling the studio would be the fastest way of getting a hold of me. 213-627-2717. Btw, I'm in downtown LA.

wish I was in LA, I'd intern...

Jon Sibal's car is nice, but I agree it's too heavily modified. I like the Dakar posted earlier (would be better if cosmos) or the one in RedV's avatar (any cosmos that's shiny and has LTW wheels)

and e30 has to be a pretty much stock m3. red.

i'd offer my car if it wasn't so ordinary, dirty, and covered with rock chips in the front...

So then which cars were the other 4 you had ready for christmas so th speak?

I think as far as getting an intern goes - you could possibly mention it on the regional subforum for where ya live - mayve find someone there.. Tho going through schools will definately turn up results.

As for cars - I think if there was to be an assumed concensus it would be

E36 M3
E30 M3

And these would be relatively stock/tastefully modded rather than full blown show cars to enhance its 'mass appeal'. Also regarding colours, its gonna be a bit hard to reach a concensus, but i dont think it will be a dealbreaker - as long as the colour photographs well with the backdrop you choose - Safe options would definately be something like Arctic silver/CosmosBlack/Hellrot/Avus

Actually, Avus Blue as a whole is a very popular colour on BFC..

Let me know what you think people!

I'd buy both an E30 and E36 poster no matter what colors they are. They should be relatively close to stock, maybe rims and slight suspension, possibly euro clear lighting, but that should be the limit.

For the E36, ESTORIL BLUE for sure. It's the most recognized E36 M color, at least in my experience. People who don't know much about cars still associate estoril with BMW M cars.

I'd say either white, or Henna Red for the E30. But, I think many colors would be good for this car.

I got my posters shortly before I left the states to come over here, and I never opened them. Just took them out yesterday, and damn are they nice. Bought the Porsche TT, and two of the bimmer ones, and he threw in the last of the four for free. Even had a hand-written note. That's what I call customer service and appreciation. Awesome posters too. I can't put into words how nice the photography is. I will definitely be down for any future posters. My dorm room here needs all the decoration it can get, and these will proudly be displayed in my garage when I get back.

I'd be up to buy one. The images on the website are very impressive.

I guess now's a good time to bring out the staggered LMs. Here are a couple of pics. I'll get some more out once the rain dries up out here.

hey, kind of OT, but do you have any interior shots of your car? is that dove grey interior you have with those seats? how does the color match up with the seats? i'm looking into getting some lightweight seats but want something that will look decent with dove grey.

Thanks.

Hi, Sorry for slow reply, been busy.

Anyway here's his reply..

Hi Dennis,
Great to hear from you. Shooting is going well – thanks for asking. It’s been pretty hectic since the start of the new year.

I am currently booked through April and the earliest I would have time for the shoot would be mid-to-late May. I want to apologize for keeping people waiting, but it’s been nearly impossible to find any free time to work on the bfc shoot. I will post to the board as soon as I am available. Hopefully, people will still be interested at that time.

Thanks again,

Wynn

Looks like the wait may be longer than anticipated - though im sure that it will be worth it.. (plus itll still be faster than the release of pelican part's 3 series manual:D - I still want that...!)

I appreciate the update. That's very exciting to know that people are still interested. Has one vehicle emerged that is clearly anyones favorite to be photographed?

Thanks again,

Wynn

So anyone wanna start a 'vote for the car to get photographed' thread? Coz I have no clue! Someone close to him would be better too methinks!
