These are REAL. The ONLY catch is that you are getting a good deal and I'm ONLY willing to accept Paypal.

You will receive a tracking number for your order.
YOU CAN ORDER 2 or 5, I don't care. I'm going to sell 10 total right now.

These are for E36, E38, E46 ONLY for now.

WE WILL KNOW SHORTLY IF THEY FIT E36 US OEM Lights.

umnitza

UUC is not, to my knowledge, selling them anymore.

Cam
09-11-2002, 12:55 PM
If they are the JP kits with the lightbox type, them I'm in. I looked at UUC and they say they still see the JP DDE for $349, is that what were getting.

Cam

umnitza
09-11-2002, 01:11 PM
yes.
But I think UUC has simply not updated their site yet.

I have three confirmed:

Yep, I found that right after I posted, the wiring looks good that comes with it, never seen one that came with that kind of thing.

i am in for a blue set if it is just as cam described:)

when you say blue or orange glass does that mean the lighting output?

so if i get blue, then my ddes will be blue. i don't want the yellowish, oem look. i want the blue:)

if all above is true then i am in:alright

are we waiting to send in payment until we get 10 or how is this working?

oh...and these dde's come w/all needed to install them correct?

If there genuine then I'm in. Also are you a premier paypal user (as in verified)?

Do you have any more pictures of the lights? Do they come with both blue and orange or we have to choose one? Thx.

Hey Matt, why the sudden intrest in DDE's??? You trying to cut Jim out of the loop?:biglaughb:dunno

umnitza
09-12-2002, 02:03 AM
Yeah, I'm muscling Jim out of the plans:biglaughb

You be careful, I'll use my SM powers on you;)

Xazn & Red318i

These ARE the real deal with EVERYTHING you need to install them.

Why the price so low? Not the same overhead as a retail store:)

You can get BLUE or Orange.
The units are modular, so if you don't like BLUE this week, go with ORANGE:)

There's no hidden trick:)
Here's a pic: http://home.pacbell.net/umnitza/ddekitbg.gif (I didn't insert it because it's HUGE)

Finally, I'm "verified" on Paypal.

I'd like to wait until I have 10 people, compile a list, then do the shipping in one-two days.

If you can't wait, fine, just send me a Paypal with:
Your Car Model
Where you saw it
Why you think Hype should bud out (j/k)
You preferred ship to address
Why you hate hostess twinkies (ok, that's optional).

09-12-2002, 06:07 PM
No its really not all that bad....just kinda time consuming. I did my install myself. Just take your time and follow the instructions the best you can. Most of the hard stuff is just getting everything fitted correctly.....installation doesn't really require much mechanical skill. If you run into any problems or have any questions just contact Jim Powel who is a moderator here. :)

Count me in for (1) kit @ $190 shipped.
I was going to get them from JP last year when he was talking about production. Of course I had just ordered ellipsiods and clears from some F-stick in cali.... got hosed for a few hundred on that deal. Alas, I'm ready to try again.

Well, looks like good timing for me. I've got one ellipsoid that needs to be replaced. The schmucks at the body shop tried to glue it back together. And the other ellipsoid I have to take out because the HID isn't working anymore. The ballast has been moved, so I'm pretty sure they probably stretched the wire. At least I'm hoping. If not, I'll upgrade the HIDs too. :)

Jim- I don't know if you remember... I e-mailed you about some loser named E. O. who was supposedly selling ZKW's and clears.... I found out he shafted at least (2) others for some goods as well...
sorry this is O.T.

GREAT NEWS: If you're ready, I am.

Use umnitza@pacbell.net as the pay to address on Paypal.
Please specify your CAR Model in the Subject (E36, etc.)
THEN, please specify any SPECIAL instructions in the NOTES section.

We will ship on Monday, Tuesday at the latest.

Why NOW? I've had 3 people contact me privately to join without doing it through this, so we've cleared the 10 people hurdle.

I'll keep it open for another 3 "public" people who want this price.

What happened to the $175 DDE GP by Lava Lighting?

Why was the post deleted? It sounds like a great deal. $175 shipped is great! ANyone interested? I hope it was not deleted by a moderator because of competition. I'm about to head out to get some Loctite threadlock and I figured I'd get some Loctite epoxy while I'm at it. Which one do you suggest for the DDE installation?

jsp98m3
09-28-2002, 04:40 PM
Why would you expect to need glue? :)

No DDE installation requires glue! In spite of VinnyMac's false advertising, none is required. On E36 installations you do need to replace the factory silicone on the backs of the E36 inner lenses. Use 100% clear silicone. Less than 2-3 ounces is required so a small tube of clear or black will be fine.

Let the silicone set up for a couple of hours before reassembling the headlight. Wait 10-12 hours before spirited driving is a good idea although you can do docile driving after 3-4 hours total.

Rel44 M3
09-28-2002, 05:10 PM
Hey Jim, I was going by the UUC instructions posted on the first page, and it said something about epoxy. I haven't read through all the instructions yet. Should I be looking elsewhere for instructions? :) I notice it says "optional clear silicone sealant" on the UUC instructions.

Strangely, apexcone doesn't have the instructions anymore. :) Yeah, Matt, I just got your instructions. I'll check them out in a bit when I have some time.

Retailers make a profit that should let them cover the cost of the bandwidth for downloading instructions. Or they can print them and put them in the box. As unbelievable as it may seem, I tend to make the least in any DDE sale. But that is the norm in almost any industry. Manufacturers make a smaller cut than the retailer.

So I do not keep instructions on my website because I would be paying too much for bandwidth. And I really do not want to sell kits to individuals. I don't mind selling installed ZKW/DDE packages though. Of course, I don't seem to need instructions to put them in :)

Yeah, Jim, I figured. Just giving you a hard time. ;) Matt, the link you gave me for the instructions are the same ones I was looking at before. Optional silicone, mandatory epoxy... I'll just go with Jim on this one. :)

The instructions that I have are all linked to my FTP space.

In which case - I save money by not printing, not adding weight to the package, AND not adding unnecessary size to the package either. yes, it's not great, but I don't have a shrinkwrap, pretty package either:D

The links, I hope, are exactly what you need to install. If they are not, please take a picture of the area or installation procedure that you are unsure of, and I'll do my best to walk you through it:)

I should be able to get by, but I'll post if I run into any problems. I won't be doing the actual install for a week or so anyway. I just wanted to buy some of the things I'm going to need.

How important is it to get the fiber to actually touch the ring as opposed to just getting it inside the barrel attached to the ring? I'm having a hard time getting the fiber to stay snug up against the ring due to the kinks in the fiber required snake it there. I could glue the fiber, but the instructions say not to. I could cut the fiber at an angel to better hit the ring, but I'm not sure that's a good idea.

Any suggestions?

Cole

Short and simple answer - you want to get it as close to the ring as possible, but it's not essential (negligible light loss).

Avoid using Glue:(

I'm running 100w bulbs in my ellipsoids and am a little concerned about heat. I replaced the wires that connect to the bulbs with a more heat resistant wire as per Eurosport's instructions. Apparently Jim Conforti's M3 burned through the stock wire running 100w bulbs. The plastic fiber cover of the DDE kit touches that wire on it's way out the back of the ellipsoid. Anyone have any experience with 100w + DDEs? I could switch the high beams back to 55w, or I could try to add some heat resistant material to the fiber cover at that point. Any advice?

i have a solution: don't use 100w bulbs:confused:

what is the reason in using them? just get a set of 55w bulbs.

get a set of eurolites of ebay for $20. a great bulb. better lighting, and no risk of melting the housing or wires.

100w h1s don't make that big of a difference over 55w h1s other than the fact that the run hotter.

I have 100W bulbs in my high beams. I don't use the high beams at all, so I don't understand what the issue is? Are your low beams 100W also?

I currently have 100w in both my high and low beams, but it's only an issue in my high beams because that is where the fiber of the DDE kit comes out.

I noticed a difference switching from 55w to 100w and would prefer not to switch back.
