I'm new here so first let me say hello to all my fellow BMW drivers and enthusiasts.

Now down to business. I drive a 523i E39 and have done for a year now since i brought it from my dad. However recently the radio in it has stopped working. Basically you turn on the engine and the radio will come on for about 20 seconds and then go off. Also the screen stays completley blank, even the time doesnt show. Has anyone else had a similar problem to mine or know of any similar problems/malfucntions to this. I think it could be something to do with the power supply?

check the battery then check ignition switch

523?......wow. we dont have those over here. i heard they have 518's in the UK too.

Nah, we dont have 518i's in the E39 but they did have them in the E34's but that was a lighter car remember. I dont personally think a 1.8 could pull the E39 its heavier.

The 523i does 0-60 mph in 8.5 secs which isnt that quick but its quick enough for a big car like that. It puts out 170 bhp and has a top speed of 142mph.
