So I just picked up my first BMW (though not my first car from Deutschland). It is an '87 528e with only 130K miles. Mechanically its impressive, runs and shifts like a champ. The interior was lit up like a christmas tree but I'm slowly eliminating all the warning lamps. The car's alloys are in really piss-poor condition and its also seriously in need of tires (great fun for the neighborhood GP!). It has 14" wheels and 195/70 tires. Do any other later model 15" wheels bolt right up? I think it might be cheaper to buy someone's cast offs than buying the stock training-wheel sized rubber. Anyone have go fast bits for this dinosaur (chip, air-intake, muffler, etc.)?

thanks and regards, Scott

I've seen a few 528's on Ebay Motors being sold for parts. Take a look. Congrats on the car!

any 5-series wheel will fit... tons of 15s out there... and actually, most of the 7-series wheels will too.

Having an 87 model - yes they make chips for it - dinan, Conforti (Turner motorsports I think), mark d'sylva (EAT chips or something)

Wheels - I am pretty sure that after market E34 or even E39 rims will work - but some may need hubcentric rings. The trick is always the offset - do the new wheels hit the spring perch - that's the potential problem.

Congrats on the car - My first bimmer was an 83 528 0 it had 240K on it and burned not a drop of oil when some bastige t-boned me.

I've got some 16" BBS RX with brand new rubber for $800 shipped. Really nice rims that would look great on an e28...:buttrock

thanks to all for the info. i'm thinking 15" E34 wheels is the way to go. And awahl63, I'm in California and you're in the windy city. How'd you find out I'm a cheap bast@#???!!!
