View Full Version : Thinking of gettin some MB towels need help
BMW1999NEW 01-17-2006, 11:27 PM ok like title says i need some help, but i was wondering where to get em. I like the guzzler kit of autogeeks but its a bit pricey for towels. or atleast i think so. I'm swaying towards buying these just because its our sponsor and seems to be great quality, but wanted to know if there were any other cheaper alternatives? my friend advised me to target what do u guys think?
hal9000 01-18-2006, 07:29 AM MB? You mean MF as in MicroFiber? Let's just put it this way, in the world of MF, you get what you pay for. I usually get mine from either Pakshack, Wayne's Towels or JT International, but then again, I usually buying 20+ per. I
The ones you find at Walmart/Target/etc are OK, but not scratch proof nor as plush. I've tried them and they're relegated to either rims, interior or glass only.
If you're looking for WW's, I've got a couple from Autogeek and a few from JT. And unless things have changed drastically, I haven't seen any large WW towels at any national dept. store chains.

The guzzler is a waffleweave towel. WW's are meant for drying, not cleaning. If you're looking for a cleaning/buffing towel, get a plush or loop microfiber.
m3mobbin 01-18-2006, 08:06 PM The one's they sell at Costo in bulk are actually better than alot of the more expensive ones I've used.

fisherbln 01-18-2006, 08:30 PM The ones from Costco/Sams/walmart/autozone/etc are hit or miss. This is your paint we are talking about, don't be cheap! Go to either pakshak.com or waynestowels.com and bite the bullet. :D
BMW1999NEW 01-18-2006, 10:27 PM thanks everyone for all the tips
I bought my waffle weave microfiber towels from Autogeek. I got one big one and one small one. I haven't opened the small one yet, but I must say that I was very impressed with the performance of this drying towel. I highly recommend them. I also purchased some super plush microfiber towels in a 6 pack from autogeek as well to buff off polishes, waxes and sealants and was very satisfied with them as well.
hnoppenberger 01-19-2006, 06:09 AM i am a cook and use only microfiber to dry my car and wax polish... i had meguiars towls and they are great, no scratches (moving from 100% cotton towls, which were a nightmare) although it does take some patentice drying a car with microfiber towls, it does a great job after you are done.

hnoppenberger, do yourself a huge favor and get a waffle weave microfiber towel. Once you try it you'll wish you had got it alot sooner. I can't imagine trying to dry a car with the standard microfiber. Not very absorbent.
mnchvgs79 01-19-2006, 09:50 AM Does it really matter that much? I mean... you do drive this thing at speeds of at least 60MPH maybe upwards of 100 MPH, on dirty ass roads, with tons of other cars around throwing up rocks and dust and dirt. Birds shit on your car. Trees piss sap on your car. People hit it with shopping carts and brush up against it with jackets and jeans.

:rofl
Yea you're right, just use your old tee shirts and garage rags to dry it, they get the water off just as well. Read Detailing 101 for an education. Hang around this forum for awhile, you'll be an OCD in no time!

California water blade and an absorber has been and will be what I dry with... its a car, not a baby.
G352M3 01-22-2006, 03:15 PM The best source I can think of would be www properautocare .com
G352M3 01-22-2006, 03:20 PM no rags, get a MF waffle weave drying towel.
m3mobbin 01-24-2006, 02:26 AM I swear by the Costco ones, I have the autogeek towels and the Meguiars and the Costco (bright yellow) ones are more plush, softer, and will stay softer even after a few wash cycles.
