View Full Version : Help Me Find A Self-Serve Car Wash Please!
mellowyellow88 01-16-2006, 09:10 PM Hey Gang:
I know I'm anal with things like this but I've had it with these hand wash places that end up being worse than the automated washes because the guys who work there don't know what they are doing.
I'm near Hoboken and I'm looking for a place where people can go and wash their own cars. Ya know, you put the quarters in and you get the hose for like 5 minutes with water. I'm gonna go with my own bucket so I can take my time and clean my baby. So, anyone out there know of a place? Again, I'm near Hoboken (across the river from Midtown Manhattan) but am willing to travel.
The things I do for my car...
Thanks in advance!
-Mike
gota525i 01-16-2006, 09:34 PM Closest place to me is Kenilworth, right of off the Garden State Parkway...If you come up, I'll meet you there, go too much salt on my car right now and it needs a spray down..:)
mellowyellow88 01-17-2006, 08:59 PM I'd like to go on Saturday morning. If you're up for it, let me know and I'll meet you there. Oh yeah, give me directions?
Thanks.

blacknight 01-17-2006, 09:14 PM There's a real good one up here in Hackensack. I always go there to wash my cars. During the summer the place is always packed at night with imports cars washing and hanging out
mellowyellow88 01-17-2006, 10:07 PM Blacknight, do you know the name/address/or directions to the one you're talking about? I like options :) Thanks man.
blacknight 01-17-2006, 10:23 PM It's on the corner of Hackensack ave and Anderson St. in Hackensack. From Hoboken, take the Turnpike North to exit 18 (GWB). Get off at rte 46W. Take 46w and cross over the bridge (I think that's hackensack river) When you cross the bridge Right B4 the next traffic light at the circle (Bergen trnpk) make a right. 1/4 way around the circle, make another right and take that road straight. You'll pass Valley fair on the right. @ the fork, stay to the right which will be river Rd. You'll pass white castles on the left. Keep straight and go through another light which will be liberty. A small mall will be on the right (Shop rite, KFC, Taco Bell) Keep straight and go under the overpass (Rte 80) Keep straight and pass Bergen County Jail on the right. Then you'll pass Pep Boys on the right. Keep straight and you'll pass Mcdonalds on the left. Once you pass the Nissan Dealership on the right, stay in the right lane. Right before the next traffic light (Anderson St.) make a right. You'll see the car wash on the right hand side. Good luck on finding a parking spot.
Another way to go is take Rte 3 west to Rte 17 North to Rte 4 East. Once on Rte 4 for about 3 Miles, Get off on the first Hackensack ave exit. It will be Hackensack ave South....Hackensack. Take that for about 2 miles. Past A cemetary on the right. Past Target on the right. Once you past Dunkin Donuts & Fireston on the right, stay in the left lane. The next light make a left (Anderson St) The car wash ins on the right.
mellowyellow88 01-17-2006, 10:41 PM Thanks blacknight for the detailed directions. Just one question- are they open these days (winter season)? Thanks again man.

Yeah, the guy who owns the spot made a pretty good investment there. There are people there everyday washing their own car.
tmat256 01-19-2006, 12:09 PM It took me a few weeks when I moved to find a good place. I refuse to bring my car through an automatic car wash.
mellowyellow88 01-22-2006, 01:00 PM Blacknight,
Thanks again for mentioning this place. I went there yesterday and man, it was a treat to be able to wash my own car and not watch some of these clowns at the local car wash mess up my paint.
Needless to say, I'll be back soon, and often.
