Hi guys,
We posted a new recording at our site of a Borla muffler with a new midpipe that is currently in development. This exhaust system is on our project car.
Here is an excerpt from the page which describes how the recording was made, our opinion of the sound, and some info about performance gains we received...
"This is the exhaust we currently have on our car. It is very deep and throaty with all the rasp eliminated. It has less of a midrange tone and more low frequencies than the MagnaFlow and has absolutely NO DRONE. It is quieter in the car and a better choice for those of you that spend a lot of time commuting and/or traveling. "
"Performance Gains:
Our car generated 289 RWHP on a Dynojet with the aFe intake, Superchips UK software and this exhaust. Using 20% as the drive train loss, this would extrapolate to 361.25 HP at the crank, which would be an increase of 28.25 HP over stock. "
"This recording is of our 2004 E46 M3. It was recorded on our ProTools HDII system using an AKG C414-TLII microphone placed approximately 3 feet behind the car and 12 inches above the tips."
"Please note that our car does NOT have the stock midpipe. This midpipe is currently in development and will be available very soon. Please check back often for the product release announcement."
You can hear the recordining on either the dual tip page here:

Or the oval tip page here:

The challenge is recording a vehicle and trying to make it sound as good thru small computer speakers as it does live. IMO this will be the best representation of what you will hear due to the quality of the recording equipment. Unfortunately, the limitations of recording with a stationary professional recording studio is that drive-bys and in-car recordings are not possible (we would need a really, really, really long mic cable LOL).
Please contact me if you have any questions about the exhaust or the recording.
Thanks,
