It's a race car. The wing isn't designed for someone who cares what the heck it looks like. It WORKS. It adds downforce. It has a freakin' purpose. The wing is built just like the wings used on the PTG E36 M3's that dominated Sports Car racing for multiple years straight.

Scott, the car looks great. Glad to see a few E46's club racing already. Haven't seen any on the East Coast yet. Noted, we've got some pretty crazy E36 M3's over here. Just got back from VIR doing some test/tuning on my father's BMod car. I'll attach a pic (poor scan).

Bryan,

I don't know what your problem is , but you have some issues man. Being a mod. and all, you some talk alittle more politely. Remember nobody likes an asshole.

Now on the wing subject. I was not debating on how the wing works , or how many race cars have them. I was voicing my opinon on the way it looks. I am sure that was very clear in my post before.

You wouldn't happen to know a guy named Dino S. (with Motorsport Technologies), would you?

Bill was only commenting on the style.. not function from what I see.. and almost every knows that wing is functional. Theres no need for that tone Brian.

I admit that my tone was a bit off. But, as unjustified as my tone may have been, I find the comment that the wing is "fugly" to be even more unjustified. Scott posts a few pics of his race car, and for no real reason, Bill finds it necessay to tell him it is f'ing ugly. If Scott had asked what we thought of the wing, sure. Since he didn't, keep the comment to yourself.

Scott, sorry if I offended you with the wing comment. I know with racing its function before looks.....etc , but when I saw your pictures it just reminded me on how ugly that wing is on a e46 m3.

And cocky bryan , you have made tons of rude comments here on BF, pretty much to everyone except your racer buddies. But this has gone on far enough , im done here

Form Follows Function--that means something must work well FIRST, while the aesthetics take second place. What you think is "fugly" is pretty f'ing cool to engineers. I appreciate the function of an object before taking the looks into account. I've seen a lot fuglier things on the street than at the track.

The reason the current Formula 1 car looks the way it does is because FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION. Many commentators sit and pontificate on the days of yore and how beautiful F1 cars were and how ugly they ae now, but the simple fact of the matter is that the cars are faster than they used to be. The goal is speed, not beauty. This isn't a concours d'elegance. I think the function of all the aerodynamic aids on an F1 car make it good-looking.

Anyway, nice pics! :buttrock
