Well my 4th window regulator has to be replaced :mad I knew it was going out... so just never used it, but yesterday I picked up the dog from the vet and as it was going down (dog loves to hang head out window) I heard the crunching, but it was too late. I have already replaced the other 3 over the past few years, so now I should be good for a while right.

I'm really just venting here cause the E46 regulators are CRAP! But you already knew that :cool

Oh yea, it's pouring rain here in Tennessee today and I'm driving around like redneck trash with gaffers tape holding my window closed until Saturday.

Cheers,
-Steven

I feel your pain. I've had both front window regulators die on my wagon so far. I'd expect the two rears aren't far behind. :(

Do I have to remove the vapor barrier to get to the actuator? Im assuming I need to since the barrier covers dam near everything back there.

Company out of... well... Germany. Ha Ha. They also make them for a couple of the Benz models. Yet they won't ever recall them :confused

Gotta love it!

Ya becarful you dont rip it, take your time taking it off so its easier to put it back on. Anytime I work on my car I keep in mind that it is 10X harder to put something back together then it is to take it apart :D

ive only replaced 1 :D

Funny thing is that for the 6 years we've had this car, we barely use the windows. When we do it's usually just cracked and not fully opened. But maybe that's why all FRIKIN' 4 of mine broke; not enough usage.

Gotcha, was the removal and installation hard once the vapor barrier is off? Nothing incredibly difficult? I hate working on interior pieces, i rather work on anything under the car since I dont have to be worried about breaking fragile pieces of plastc.

Gotcha, thanks a bunch. Ill order it soon, or wait till it's warmer :(

I already have shock swap and caliper replacement on my beater accord this weekend while the weather is freakishly warm, so a tad busy as of now. I didnt think the actuator would be a pain, but it makes me feel better that you did it so easily.

What are the signs of a regualtor going bad?

I recently noticed a louder thud when I roll the passenger side window down. I tested it today and it makes a noise noticeably louder than the driver's side. :dunno

Similar sounds. Also "cracking" or "creaking" sounds. Uneven height when rolling up, shifting back and forth....

how much does the dealer/independent shop charge to replace a regulator? And how old were your cars when they started going bad? Thanks

Lol, I think less than 1 year for the first one. I had two done under warranty and I think the 3rd cost about $120. :dunno
