I own a pressure washer that has max PSI of 2300. I've heard that if you can pressure wash your vehicle with a more diffuse spray at about 1200 psi you'll be safe and get a good wash. I'm not refering to adding the soap thru the pressure washer. I am just referring to using the pressure wahser to get the car wet and then rinsing the soap off. I've noticed that some of the coin operated car wash do-it-yourself have high pressure sprays as well as the automatic car washes.

The neighbor uses his oressure wahser and keeps a couple feet of distance when spraying. Then he uses the mitt and soaps it up. He says hes never had a problem.

Anyone want to lend an opinion regarding using a pressure washer to spray down the car.

yeah i have a max 1200psi washer and i keep it on the widest setting, unless im doing the wheels. and i have never had a problem with it, it knocks alot of the dirt off so your wash mitt and the bucket stays alot cleaner along with your soap.

Hmmm, I have thought of this since my spoke type wheels are so difficult to clean. Always was afraid it would cut things up.:dunno
