I went to the event last weekend. It was a blast. Although the rear wheel drive class was small and bimmers were way underepresented, only 2. We need to change that.

that's what I'm shooting for also, some fresh snow. if you find anything in the NY/NJ/PA area, keep me posted.

in the mean time, I'm dropping in a LSD rear in my galant...should make for some fun. :evil2

Make sure you strap it down in the trunk or it will dent your rear quarters.

yep, exactly same year even but with '92 wheels.

I love the car to death, it's the ultimate sleeper. there is another galant that is awd as well, the GSX but it was sold without the aws and turbo motor.

I love driving my vr4, nobody looks twice at it.

Wow I never new Galants came in all wheel drive.

I'm with you guys too...I want to have fun in the snow.

themadhatter

for '91 and '92, the galant came in three unique setups:

Galant
Galant GSX (all wheel drive)
Galant VR-4 (limited to 3000 officially produced with awd, aws and a turbo charged 4g63 motor).

the vr-4 is comparable in uniqueness like the e30 M3, they both share a racing haritage and both are cult cars.

I've been wanting to go to these for a while, but they always get cancelled since it doesn't snow that often.

I'll bring my Jeep XJ and have some fun, then tow everyone out that gets stuck! :buttrock

Unfortunately, I did not go. I woke up at 5:30 AM to get ready to go, when I looked out the window and was looking at 10+ inches of snow on the ground and snow coming down so hard that I couldn't see 100 feet, on top of the fact that nothing had been plowed. The event is over 80 miles from my house, it would have taken me all day to get there in those conditions, so I decided to go back to bed and wait for another event.

Here's a write up from the event:

CART Wintercross 02/12/06

By Rick Alexander

Today in the blizzard there were some mighty hearty soles. Twenty entrants to be exact. They encountered anywhere from 6" to 18" of snow on the lot. Any off course excursion, even some on course runs resulted in the snow plow effect. That being that the driver found that someone had turned out the lights as there was a huge drift on the hood. The lucky ones never found the deep stuff or the resourceful ones just stuck their heads out the window to acquire the next cone.

The course started with a long sweeping right hander that took you back up towards the trucks. A tight left brought you headed back down the hill. A modest left right put you at a pivot cone at the north end of the lot. Next the course meandered back along the bottom of the lot to the dreaded off camber left to come back up the hill. Many a car just pushed until it was to deep and a lot of good runs ended here. If you managed to negotiate that turn well you were given a straight shot back to the start finish and a sliding stop. Done right and with a great deal of luck this was a very rewarding course.

Paul Omichinski in his green Exploder won AWD heavy. The top of the heap in AWD light was Pete Monin in an Impreza. FWD honors went to Brad Snow in his perpetually "for sale" Honda Accord. Many time the lead changed hands adding to the days fun.

The day wound down with our search for a place to have lunch. Ten of us went looking for an establishment that wanted our money. It wasn't until the fourth location that the caravan was allowed to disband after lunch.

It's unfortunate that some of you had other plans or were too snug in your warm homes to come out and play. You missed a good one.
