i always hear the terms struts and shocks used together and i dont understand if they are one in the same of two different peices. is three major components or two? and if they are seperate... does buying these "shocks include the struts" damn i feel like a ten year old retard asking these questions.

With these 3 questions asked.. I'd think you'd have a hard time. A strut is a specific kind of "shock".. It's what's on your front. "shock absorbers" are what's on your back wheels. "shocks" are the generalized terms. You need a spring compressor and airtools help.

Wow, you are fast! What kind of drop is this going to achieve? I am looking for an inch to an inch and a half drop, anything more and I risk tearing the bottom of the car out on my way home. they redesign the shocks a couple years ago, they fix the problem, and remember new shocks compared to worn out ones will lift the car a little

just orded the BTS kit for E36 non M model and the total came out to be $611. I thought it was $550 shipped. For $611, it is actually not that cheap IMO, you can buy it separate for about $30-40 more.
