honestly i love the sytling of the e36.the e30 is to square and the e46 is to round the e36 is had great style.i recently went to meets were i was the outcast having an e36 and i felt more than comfetable and was very proud.maybe if there was an e46 motor hiding under my hood it would be more acceptable lol.for real tho if i wanted an e46 i could have one i just really love the e36.

I think the e36 design is a classic shape as well as the e30, though the e30 is starting to look very dated since not many people keep them in great condition any more.

the e36 and e30 were original designs that others aspired too, the new cars are just getting too plain and blending in too well with the masses.

you need to double check if that e90 is a camry or a nissan or if that e46 sedan was really a buick.

the edgy styling of the e36/e30 was lost with the jelly bean wannabe Chevy Caprice e46.

While I sometimes with my car had some of the newer technology, I am glad my car doesnt have the "fluffyness" of the newer cars. I love how solid my old bimmer feels.

man times, that newer technology can be adapted to an older car.

what type of tech are you referring too?

People sometimes think my car is like a 2002+ model.
A little moded E36 can easily pass for a new model BMW.
oh and by the way i took an 330CI with my stick 328IS... :evil2

there is no such thing as an outdated bmw, they only become classics.

Amen to that. I hate having a car that everyone else owns or looks like every other car. That was what drew me to a bmw in the first place. There aren't many in this area and people treat it like it's some highly expensive exotic car. Which we obviously know is not true but I won't tell them that.

Having said that, I agree with other people here; I don't think I would buy an e46 any time soon and god forbid anything happen to my car I think I would go and get another e36. That's at least how I feel now but that might change in 10 years.

my e30 is fucking old... but feels better then an e36 and an e46... loud and raw, weird funky noises everywhere and shit... and every maintenace work is a new adventure... honestly for the money i think e30 is a bang for the buck

and yes i feel outdated, but who gives a shit

Honestly every time I see an e30 (at least a darker one) I'm going to think of the line from Fun with Dick and Jane

I don't feel outdated, but I also wouldn't mind having a e46 330 :).

I'd take an "outdated" bmw that actually looks good over a nasty E90 any day

I know what you guys mean. A lot of people look at my car and think even though it's a BMW, it's a piece of shit just because it's older. Other people look at it, think it's a 1999, and are amazed at how good of condition it's in when I tell them it's a 1994. I particularly like the old BMW's more than the new ones, before they became mass marketed. Where I live, new BMW's are everywhere, especially the e46. They just don't mean anything anymore. I am always toying with the idea to get rid of my e34 and get an even older BMW such as an e30, e24, or even 2002. I would take an e30 anyday over an e46 (maybe except M3 lol).

No...

Every time I see an e36 on the road, I feel proud to own one. Still think they're some damn sharp looking cars. I also think that while the newer 3's are nice (and I've done a fair amount of driving in them), the e36 is much more connected to the road, same holds true for the e30's I've driven.

I always thought the gadgets in the newer 3's were neat, like the nav and electronics. So I put a computer system into my car. Now I'm pleased to say I have the tech as well as a car that's fun to drive.

I don't think you can really go wrong with an e30 or e36

heres one more thing to consider, theirs only one of these cars that is or will ever be considered a timeless design.........E30.
the e36 and e46 thou great cars, can get lost in a crowed and the E46 even more so.
catching a glims of a clean E30 M3, E30 VERT or E30 on the street and you instantly know your looking at something special, not to the bmw fan but to the general public.
no matter where i go with my e30 vert, it gets noting but att and the thumbs up, the same cant be said when im in my 1995 M3.
the only ones who ever notice the M3 are other m3 owners and a few ricers.

I don't think that's true. You saying the 2002 isn't timeless? e36s that are nicely styled stand out as much as an e30 in my mind. Same holds true with e46s

No no one is saying that at all.
where talking about e30, e36 and e46es hear.
yes the 2002 is turely a timeless design....NO question, but where not talking 2002 are we.

as you said, in your mind (a BMW fan) nicely styled e36 and e46es stand out as much as an e30.

listen a ford pinto can be made to stand out but does that make it a timeless design? No.
im talking about its design from the factory not its view after you tinker with it.

Ive never ever agree with anything you post, and sometimes you tend to annoy me, but i don't think anyone can sum this up better than what you just said.

I agree with M3Troy, everytime i see an e30 (not very often) i think "classic". The cars are mean as hell looking even though there old as shit. I love my e36, but id take a clean e30 over it anyday. As for the e46es, they look like every other car out there. To wavy and not enough "solidness" to them. Still, if anyone were to give me an e46, id take it :)

P.S. I see e46's on the road ALL THE TIME. The only other e36 i see on the road is a dark green 325 convertable. The e30es and e36es just have CHARACTER!!

i seriously am stumped. i just thinkin that puttin more money in a '92 318 is pointless. 1500$ rims is more than 1/4 of what the car is worth!

hate to say it but $1500 rims is about what a 92 318 is worth. You can pick them up for sub $2k all day long.

Coming from someone that has own'd an e21 320(s14 swap), E30 318, E36 318is(S52 swap), E36 325is, E36 318ti, E36 328i,E36 M3 #1, E36 M3#2, E36 M3#3, E36 M3# 4
and the list keeps going.

I would have to favor the E36 just because I have own'd so many. The E30's still have a place in my heart and always will since they are what made me into what I am today in the bmw world. I would love to own a e30 to play with but not for a daily driver, it would need to be worked!
