From the stories I've heard, I wouldn't want the liability, selling a POS jack like that...

What were you told that makes it seem like a POS?

Hey Bret -

Hold onto one of those for me. I found out today, the hard way, that the jack is missing from the M Roadster.

I throw a 3rd hand at that 1...AAA tried pulling my car off with a regular truck, I calmly told the driver he would rip my bumper off :-(

M Roadster's don't have jacks; they don't have spare tires, so no reason for a jack.

I'll give you the "they don't have a spare" but there is a nice little jack picture on the trunk floor, and a nice little jack sized slot beside the battery.

Regardless, when you are "camping" at a friend's house and you need to pull a wheel off, any jack in a storm will do whether it should have been there or not.

Interesting. Someone installed the jack tray into your car. Most M Roadsters and M Coupes have just a shallow "storage" tray in place of the normal Z3 jack tray.

We should have a "GP took my sig pic, and DW messed with it" club. There would be like 4 of us, assuming I switch back to my old sig.

Yes, except in Bill's case, the pics in his sig(s) - thus far - were taken by me. :D

Of course, when I get GP's shots sent to him, I'm sure that will change. ;)

Good times, regardless. :alright

Edit:

As for the location, I'm not one to scuttle the privileges we've gained by sending a bunch of people onto private property, so I won't discuss specifics.

However, generally speaking, many major shopping malls around the Perimeter area have parking decks. And if one is willing to get up early enough in the morning, several hours before the malls open, the decks and parking lots are usually quite empty. You just need to be respectful of the area and its rules, and polite to any security that might be patrolling around. :cop :) :cop

Now THAT'S true. :help

It must be some kind of cosmic joke on photographers that the clearest air and best light for outdoor work is in the pre-dawn hours during the dead of winter. :eyecrazy

You can have mine, I had to buy a new one that fits the key to my wheel locks. Original jack doesn't accept the wheel lock 'key'. New jack works for my lock and old wheels for that 'spare' moment..

Interesting.

Interesting indeed. Mine is an early 98 - so there could have been some supply issues. That being said, it did have accident history prior to my purchase (which I was aware of) so anything is possible.

I guess that gives me a reason to post in the Z3 forum - get all the M Roadster guys to go check their trunks.

Ok, off topic question. Is there something special I have to do to get my rims off? As hard as I try, I can't turn the lug nuts. And if there are wheel locks, how do I get them off?

You can't tell if you have wheel locks or not? :confused

What were you told that makes it seem like a POS? let's just say there's a reason why they call these types of jacks "widowmakers"
