Want to make a few bucks? (Or need parts? :devillook)
I am looking for a laptop to surf the web in class. (Atleast I'm honest. :dunno)
Essential functions: Battery for atleast an hour or two. Working screen, mouse, and keyboard. PCMCIA slot or integrated wireless. USB Port. Win2k or greater.
Let me know what you have and how much you want. No hurry.

I've got an old school Gateway 2000 P233, 96MB RAM ~4GB HDD, USB wireless thing that might work for ya. I think the battery was recently replaced before I picked it up off eBay because it always lasted around 1.5-2 hrs for me.
Does web surfing just fine. No CD drive, which I never found to be a problem with the USB ports and wireless. It only has Win98SE since I couldn't get Win2k to work with it. Would freeze after doing the initial install/find hardware thing so I just gave up and installed 98SE which works fine for what I used it for(just web browsing while traveling to search for jobs).
Everything works on it, and has no dead pixels(12" screen or so). Let me know if you're interested as it's just sitting around.

Hot damn son! Why do you need that much power to surf BF.com during class?
The lappy I mentioned ran Firefox with no problem and could do something like word processing without issues. You can't really go look at pr0n on it, but I doubt you'll need to do that in class... or if my memory serves me correctly, maybe you will at Tech. :stickoutt

zeit00 01-07-2006, 10:50 PM I have some dell laptops around.. actually I am using one now.. I can see about getting one together for you..
You have to install a driver for it, but I guess I'm old skool in that it doesn't bother me.
I know you don't want my laptop, but I thought I'd edumacate your ass on computers for a bit.
BTW - don't buy a used laptop for $350 - that's an Fin' ripoff. I just got a brand new 1.4 Ghz Celeron-M Dell for $465 shipped after tax with two batteries(2-2.5 hrs battery life on each). I got a company discount, but I bet by now you can get one somewhere in that price range brand new. A new Celeron-M or Pentium-M(same core, Pentium-M has Speedstep) will rape a 1 Ghz P3 every which way.
:lol

But you got a Dell. I can get an old IBM for $350 or less. :dunno IBMs rule. Basically, I don't care how good the laptop is, but I don't want A) An old hunk of crap (your laptop) B) to pay a lot (A new laptop, or DW's). I am looking for the wonderful middle ground, where I get a laptop that will surf the web, fit in my backpack, and not attract a lot of attention in class. (IBM T22 FTW)
Karl, let me know what you have/want for it. :buttrock

IBMs aren't anything special compared to others around their price range - I've used a bunch of them and really haven't been impressed.
