Is it possible to use 740 or 745 wheels on a 540? Also if there is any bmw wheels interchange chart available?

Very possible but you cant use the tires sizes that came on those wheels on the 540i.

Also,if you use 740 rims on a E34 540i you will require hub rings and if you use 745 rims on a E39 540i same thing.

The E34 and the E65 have 72.56 center bore and the E39 and E38 have 74.1

No you cant use the e65 rims or the e38 rims on a e39. Look at the bore sizes. The 7 series both have the 72.56 ( smaller ) as the e39 has the 74.1 (bigger) You would have to have the 7 series wheels bored out to even mount them. Trust me no matter what anyone says you cant do it with out boring the hub size out. Center rings would be needed to mount the e39 (bigger bore) on to a 7 series.

+1... E38, E65 and E34 all have 72.6mm hub bores

ive been trying to find a shop that will bore out wheels, a guy today told me to just use some emery cloth and do it myself:eyecrazy

Gonna need a long strip of emery cloth to whittle away 2mm of aluminum....
