View Full Version : anyone know bbaz or bret?
328iJunkie 01-07-2006, 12:01 AM Well i moneyshifted my car 2 days ago and after long hours on the phone with a bunch of different people i met up with bret a board member and talked for about 2 hours on what to do with my 328i... In the end i have decided to go S52 and have bret source the motor and swap it into my car. He has also sent my computer off to AA to get reburned for my swap with some mods. Well including a bunch of crap in addition to the 40K old motor the total comes to about 5k$. Because im a broke college student im going to get a loan from my parents and pay them back this summer. I talked to bret today for a long ass time and he seemed legit as they get but i will be giving him 3500 dollars down for the motor and my car which if he wanted he could boost. Because of this my dad wants me to find 3 or more people who have had experience with him in any way service wise. He somehow ripped my computer outta my engine bay in like 2 min flat which i was amazed at so i dont see what the problem is but my dad wont give me the money till i do this so....
Whos dealt with him at all?
Whos had him work on your car?... etc.... Thanks -Dave
Yes, just recently worked with him before xmas You cant go wrong, he knows his $hit and is reputable. He can get you wholesale priced parts and is a rep for a couple performance parts dealers. Very knowledgeable, I would definitely recommend him.
If your Dad wants to talk to someone to vouch for him, PM me and you can have him call me.
talisbell 01-07-2006, 01:39 AM Bret is a standup guy. Has gone out of this way to help me on a couple occasions.
keeptheuroalive 01-07-2006, 01:41 AM Check out the E36 forum I posted about him there. He helped pull my head on in a couple of hours
MCoupe434 01-07-2006, 01:41 AM Bret is frickin amazing. He has hooked me up and helped me out on countless occasions. Plus he knows the e36/S52 inside and out. Good call on the research but you have nothing to worry about with Bret.
zeit00 01-07-2006, 09:23 AM Bret is an awesome guy. We have helped each other out many times in the past.
BMRSEB 01-07-2006, 09:41 AM I too, can vouch for Bret. One time I attempted to do some work on my then '97 528i/5 and royally screwed up. I drained all my diff fluid (in an attempt to replace with RP) and in the process, somehow I ended up stripping the fill plug so couldn't fill it back up!!
Anyway, I posted on the board about my plight and any possible suggestions as the car was not safely driveable. Bret, not only offered assistance over the phone but, actually came all the way to my house and helped me out!! Great guy!!:D
JJ Byzanz 01-07-2006, 11:30 AM Bret is the MAN! Aside from knowing inside and out how the M50-S52 engines work, he can successfully coax one from suicide just by calmly talking to it.
He is a great man with a great heart and love of BMW.
I heard his tears cure cancer. Too bad he never cries.
Matt

Have no worries with bret, he's probably one of the smartest and most honest guys you will ever meet when it comes to cars. He has helped me so much in the past and I really do owe him a lot. He did my clutch job as well as helped me part out my car when I totaled it. He never takes any shortcuts and always does the job right. He really has a passion for this sort of thing so he won't try to screw you. Hope this helps.
PointMEby 01-07-2006, 02:40 PM Bret did my whole 3.2 obd1 swap...woulnt recommend anyone else but him. He does AMAZING work and fast! Not to mention he gives you wholesale deals and stuff for cheap. I walked away from this motor swap alittle over 5 grand, with him doing the whole conversion, bigger injectors, new gear synchro's...the works...he's a perfectionist, and in his work you can tell.

It's kind of funny to see the reaction you get when you start a sentence with "So I met this guy/gal on an online BMW forum...well, okay, I didn't actually meet them in a conventional sense, but nonetheless...blah blah blah."
I have been getting that reaction a lot recently. :dunno

Cwaters 01-07-2006, 09:00 PM Bret is the best quarterback Green Bay ever had and they should put a statue of him in the parking lot at lam....
Oh wait...
uh... yeah
The guy you're talking about helped me out of a jam a litle while back. And all the while he was on his couch hopped-up on pain meds... He's ok in my book.

Actually, we did meet the conventional way. We met up so I could take a peek at everything and see how bad the over-rev was. Sure enough he tinked the valves on the top of piston # 5. :(
Why the heck is it always #5?
All: Thank you all for the kind words. It's been really great to get to know you all, and I'm glad I could help you out. I think the GA board has the best group of people ever known. Thanks again for all your support.
Oh yeah, and Keechy, if you don't know who I am , I guess I'm off the hook for helping you out tomorrow then huh? ;)

That is the most intelligent thing you have ever said.
I am completely serious.

That is unfortunate.
Looks like we'll have to wait a bit longer for your first intelligent statement.

Bret has done work on my cars and i've been happy with all of it. Now i've got quite a bit of work lined up for him too, heh heh. Oh yea, Bret you work on E46 m3's yet? My brother wants to do some things.
adeelpowers 01-08-2006, 08:43 PM Bret is awesome.
I met him through the boards and were room-mates from 04-05 and would've stayed his room-mate if I didnt go back to Chicago for the summer breaks. He has done unbelievable work on my car and wouldnt have had anyone else touch it before getting his suggestion or approval first.
I money-shifted like you last March and he took care of everything (engine, radiator, clutch...). You will be impressed with his work and personality. He's honest, straight-forward and will go out of his way to help you.

If bret can fix adeel's car...he can fix any car...no joke. Adeel is like a curse when he's behind the wheel of a car. Either that or he's just a dumbass. Either way the end result is always bad and bret has always fixed it. :buttrock
MCoupe434 01-08-2006, 09:07 PM Naveen, lets try to be respectful ok. You better watch out because you are on teh BYZANZ Mafia's turf now :nono

Shut the fuck up Navin. This thread was asking about Bret and not me or what you think of other members other than Bret. You look more and more like a moron with every post.
