3.0 CSi were fuel injected where the CS had duel carbs and the CSi also came with aluminum hood and trunk lid and a taller final gear

Here's a random occurance. While driving home from Limerock one time this last summer I followed a 3.0 cs part of the way home and snapped a pic. I posted it on Bimmerforums and low and behold he chimmed in with a pic that his wife took of me.

Last year, before I stumbled on the e28 m5, I was looking for a e9. Did'nt matter what motor. I was going to go thru all the mechanicals anyway and put in an s38 or a 3.5 with a 5 speed. Anyway, I had 15k set aside, I just wanted a rust free car. All the cars I found were either 30k and over restored or 10k and total rustbuckets that needed a ton of rust repair. I'm still looking and now the search has expanded to an e30 m3 as well. Whichever comes first is what I'll drag home.

Last year a 3.0 csi was for sale for about 6k. I've never seen it, just saw the add in the paper and my wife said no when I told her it was there....

They DO tend to have rust issues... something about how the front fender/A pillar/rocker all fit together.

The true e9 enthusiasts would beat another owner for driving one in the rain...

I was actually offering that one up to drool over, I know what it is. It is ACTUALLY the 3.5CSL that one the 12hr of Daytona way back when. That car has some MAJOR history. It has changed hands between some avid vintage race car owners (two of which are/were BMW dealership owners as well). That car sounds INSANE!!! Not your typical e9 though.

If you are SERIOUS about restoring one though, I hear tell that Carl Nelson and the guys at La Jolla Independant are THE people to help you. Not cheap, but nothing about an e9 is these days.

Hey, if you are from portland, there is a guy that is selling one on craigslist for that area. I don't believe that it is the same one you are referring to because this one is at a dreamcar sort of dealership and it looks uber clean.
