Buy a Technique Tuning Kit for your 328i....you should be able to afford it with that budget I *think* and 328is are VERY turboable.....

just search for some posts about forum member Cardcounters car....

Hes putting down 635 rear wheel horsepower on a 328i engine with only head gasket and a few other bits I believe (engine internals wise)

Turbo your car. I would recommend getting boostlogics kit. It is a very well put together kit. Then swap out your rear end to one out of a M3. 10-12k should be enough and you would have a very quick/fun car.

Check out their site, www.boostlogic.com

I'm guessing he is saying he has $12k to spend overall? If so that changes things quite a bit.

I think it all depends on your ultimate goals. I bought a 328i because my ultimate goal will be a car that will go to the track/is only for fun. SO, that means that virtually the car will be built/re-built. If you are not planning on doing anything to it for a while you can turbo an M3 too... but you'll have 50more whp to play with until you do your turbo kit. Insurance shouldn't be that much of a difference - when I priced mine out it was only a few percent higher...So the big question is what are your end goals? FWIW, Since I've owned my car I've put on the M3 mirrors, bumper, and the moldings and rear bumper are on the way. But I am doing Rieger side skirts instead of the M-Tec skirts and other stuff too.. looks can sometimes be a deciding factor.. :D

i've heard good things about boostlogic from their supras, but WHO is running their bmw turbo kit besides blaise? and he has a fully built bottom end as well, not standard on the kit they sell. they could not guarantee me tuning that would pass austin emissions, so what's the point? i'd go tt. i hear of guys passing smog on that setup without any problems.

technique tuning only does s52, s50, and m44 right now.for 10-12 installed, you would need to get a 325is and the tsi turbo kit. That is not a lot of money to be spending big bucks on boost logic stuff
