Heard about it and felt bad for those that it happened to but never thought i would do it.
Money Shifted....
I was supposed to go at 430 to this shop down west of atlanta to install my cams underdrives and Xbrace. So i decided i should get a baseline feel before the mods. Take my car out to this road to open it up... 1-2..2-3... go to speed shift 3-4th as i round this left turn...clutch throw clutch and suddenly my engine is screaming. slam the clutch in just as i look down to see my RPM needle at the same place the 30 is on the MPG gauge. shit.. that would be second gear.. so i turn the car off and coast into a parking lot. Sit for a second fighting back tears and then decide to see what happens if i start it... it starts. dies. start it again and hold the gas down a tiny bit and it stays on making a ticking noise... turn it off and call my friend for a ride. ... so i call the same guy that was gonna install my cams(Chuck) and talk to him about it and then go to the stealership for a quote. They quoted me at 5000 for work on bent valves. Chuck said hed do it for 2700 or so. im considering trying to do it myself But i dont think i can handle the job... Im also considering becoming a 332... idk which would be best... ive got 113 on the clock right know so give me your suggestions....

Man, I am very sorry to hear that. There's no way I would've been able to hold back the tears... :(

First thing you need to do, is pull the plugs and take a look. Inspect the plugs and they will tell you a lot. Tell us what you find. Then take a peek inside. Also pull off the T-body and take a look inside the manifold. I've been through this twice now with some of the members here on the board. Both times the motors were done.

Depending on your feedback on the stuff above, proper advice can be given, and if nescessary we can yank the head and figure it out from there.

Good luck man. Bent valves are a bitch especially if the hurt the piston. Always look at it in good light though, upgrade time!!!, thats what I've been doing.
bbaz are you still down for tommorow at noon?

I have had some bad experience with this!! Props to Bret for helping me out. He's a genious with this. I would check out your gear synchro's etc. while your at it, mine were screwed and it helped lead to my own fate. In the mean time, I took a speed shifting lesson from a fellow board member and that really helped me. Best of luck to you! I'd give you some advice, but who needs it when you have Bret's help.
