Doctor Wha 01-05-2006, 12:16 PM Mid-day? Good luck. We only ever call them when they open early in the morning for the same reason.
Have you tried dialing the operator, and having her send you to the parts desk?

Their parts department is great. Or used to, because they stopped any form of discount, BMWCCA or not.

AtlzDesiKhiladi 01-05-2006, 06:54 PM You know I was just over there the other day and I got no help whatsoever. But then again, I'm a 19 year old kid checking out a brand new $88,000 750Li. So whatever...
That car was amazing though...a real piece of art. A lot of car for the money. I also know someone who works there. Never met him but I know he works there. It's this girl's dad...lemme know and I'll hook you up with his number...

Daily driver plus whatever else :)
It is a 98 M3/4, estoril blue of course with about 50,xxx miles on it. It needed a bit of reconditioning to get it up to my standards but mechanically is pretty perfect. Paint is in good condition too. No wrecks. I bought it from DC area. I got a good deal for it so it was worth. Now is at HMS getting some decent suspension and other small things.
Mazda will be around until I am done with getting the M3 ready for daily driving. After that no more. I would love to keep it but 3 cars is a bit much :)

I used to go to Nalley (when it was Chris). They always seemed to do a good job, I just hated my SA, Cheryl Grimm. She has since moved to North Point Motorcars' Service Dept. Because of her I went to Global and have had mixed results. My SA there, Steve Andrews, started out pretty good but has had a bit of 'tude with me the last couple times. So now I don't know where to go. It seems to me the SA you get has more bearing on your service experience than the dealer itself. Warranty runs out in July so I'll prob. start going to Performing Imports. I still have some warranty issues to clear up though--any suggestions on a SA/Dealer?

Thanks Asma. The entire place just seems rude. Without the help of teh amazing Bret myself or my car wouldn't have gotten any help. If anybody really wants details just PM me. This is a HUGE reason as to why I am considering an r32 or a chipped 2.0T A3 - because Jim Ellis is an AWESOME dealership. Anybody that can hook me up there let me know ;)
There is no such thing as a part you can't get anywhere else.
There are a MILLION places to get autoparts online. Often they are exactly the same parts you'd get at the dealer, just direct from the OEM to the retailer rather than OEM => BMW => Dealer => you.
I like www.rockauto.com personally.

I have to believe your being funny about Jim Ellis? Since they have been known to void a warranty on hear say or if you chip your S4 etc. Jim Ellis has the rep of one of the WORST VW/AUDI/PORSCHE dealers in the states. Friends who have owned all 3 had only negative things to say about their relationships with the dealer.
The few times I have shopped cars at JE Porsche and Audi, the salestaff acted like the stereotypical used car salesman from the 80's that I would never do business with them.
Global sucks too as they voided my warranty on my 95 M3 back in 97 when I only had a chip and club racing sticker on the window. The car was otherwise bone stock. They claimed the extra power from the chip broke the diff. I had a lawyer speak with BMWNA and they sent techs to check and fix my car at another dealership. Total bullshit.

I, too, have a friend who has less-than-flattering things to say about JE's service department.

Paging DaneA4 to thread eleventybillion. I was recently up there and the sales people were amazingly helpful. I also know a few guys in the service department who are willing to help an interested customer get around some of the warranty issues. Oh well :help

EvilClassic 01-09-2006, 04:25 PM ooooooooooooooooo burn. But ya, on the subject of Global does ANYONE know where those used tires go. They were in perfect condition. And My friend goes through tires so often probably every 2weeks- 1 month.

e9nine 01-09-2006, 05:04 PM I live in Duluth but opt to go to Global over United when I have things to do in that area. For most items as they are cheaper than United which is literally 5 mins away from me. United pays me no mind even though all I want is to barter money for parts. The counter is never manned and those counter chics are always chit chatting instead of simply helping me by calling the parts dude. For some reason, Mr. Parts dude is always in the back.
There was one guy at Global who "rocked." He's no longer there though...he was a cool guy!!
Then again, in this industry no one is 100% in my book and I am not difficult (seriously, I have worked retail before and know it's no fun). My opinion here applies to online vendors and local vendors/shops as well.
Edit: Jawdie is the only local person who does me right 100%

:werd: Before I bought my M3 I toyed with a Boxster or 911. When I went to Jim Ellis they were all over me like a cheap suit the entire time I was on the lot. When I finally get the cabbage for a Porsche I'll be going to Hennessy.

My experience has been pretty good at Gwinnett united, never had to wait for someone to get ot the counter and they usually are helpful even though they never have any part i need in stock. But that is normal these days for any dealership.
When I moved to Atlanta in 95, Global parts kicked ass. Think the partguys name was Mike, good prices, they matched any advertised dealer price on parts etc. Never had a complaint. After they moved locations, good service disappeared and their service manager is still the only person who I have ever wanted to cut into 3inch squares.

Mi535 01-15-2006, 01:10 AM That's funny b/c when I went to global, they claim to have won something like the "Best Dealership in America" for the past 2 years...Their parts department sux...not open on saturdays...

I don't know what you are talking about, but Global's part dept. is open on Saturdays from 8-4pm. They close earlier than the weekdays.

That's one of the things I hate about Global. They just about force you to give them all "fives" on those gay phone surveys, even if you don't feel you got "five" level of service. I'm really thinking of going back to Nalley now that the SA I didn't like there has left.
rneily 01-16-2006, 05:19 PM I have had this exact problem with Global a TON of times. It's allways after 3pm too. I have bothered them the main operator there untill she physically went the found someone.
If any of you call the parts dept and dont get someone, ask I talk to a manager...
G. P. Burdell 01-16-2006, 05:52 PM If I need a whole bunch of parts and don't mind waiting, it's just a short trip up I-75 to BMW of Chattanooga (http://www.bmwofchattanooga.com/). They offer 20% off parts to Peachtree Chapter BMW CCA members. Call the parts department and ask for Brian Scroggins.
Global still gets my business if I need a part quickly. They're the nicest bunch of guys, but their upper management hamstrung them when they stopped offering 15% off list to CCA members. :thumbdown
