worth the upgrade?

I've got the upgrade, but I am not sure what the real difference would be. Maybe we should go for a side-by-side comparision. I have noticed that there has been more and more police officers using POP radar.

It's only $50 plus S&H. I've been wanting to send mine out for a while now but really couldn't be without the V1 lately.

mostly suffolk county as of right now, I haven't done a whole lot of travelling in nassau.

when you say you notice more & more police officers... I presume in Suffolk right?

looks like I better get the upgrade.....dang, I have to send two V1, its gonna cost me.

i would assume that nassau county was using POP too if suffolk was also using it.

you would be surprise how many services are diff. for nassau & suffolk.

LI po po are quite harsh...I don't speed many parts of LI that I don't know.

As of late, they are getting even more sneeky...my V1 caught them using their radar when they are hiding in supermarkets parking lots

i guess they figure that most people are going to have the run of the mill radar detectors that just beep, but we know better ;). It's strange that I haven't gotten pulled over at all in suffolk county, but i have no idea why.

The traffic court in nassau is always so crowded because of people having to appear in court there.

I have noticed very little radar on Nassau highways so far. And no POP in Nassau.

Troopers seem to use laser though my x50 has yet to detect it (the detector is new to me).

what about in NYC? Are they using POP there? It's been a while since I drove through NYC.

they really don't give two shits except on the FDR. Henry Hudson below the GWB might as well be a race track at nights.
anything above that... well... that's where they got cops.

huh... i would fly on Grand Central and the only cops i have ran into (well, seen on the side running radar) are the ones on the Tri-Boro Bridge.

all others seems too lazy to do anything about it.

i did get pulled over on the triboro for crossing over solid white line; my excuse and the lady was really nice about it: i was avoiding potholes (there were so many since it was construction). she totally understood (she was like 70 years old!!) and said she also hates how her CD skips when she hits them.

There often are LEO using radar on the Belt JUST west of the V. Narrows Bridge!

There often are LEO using radar on the Henry Hudson (south bound) just below the GWB!

Never see them on the Cross Island.

ALWAYS see them on the Clearview.

Radar? Almost never on the LIE in Queens.

jersey state troopers use X band, locals mostly use Ka. well, north jersey anyway (sussex county, flanders, etc).

i never saw a cop up here in syracuse till the miatAr broke - now i see atleast 2 a day. since the detector's built into that car, i don't know what they use here.

i thought pop wasn't legal enough to get a ticket from? they could use it to tell you're speeding, but then they have to actually get you with radar or laser? guess that's changed in the last month...

cops use X bands? I rarely see that ever being use by any cops.

what is a LEO?

How about the helicopter radar warning thing I see in NJ? is that real or just to scare people off?

it's not legal but they still can use it in court :rolleyes The problem is that the radar pulse is so short that it can't be accurately timed with today's technology. So there is just a nifty gadget that can't measure speed correctly but can be used to calculate other's speed.

1) LEO = law enforcement officer

2) That sneaky POP is first shot then they send a regular/more detectable blast to confirm.

3) FYI, I saw a NYC cop on the Tri-Boro bridge this morning, standing in the breakdown lane (Queensbound, very close to that first Queens exit) blasting folks with either radar or laser. He was standing outside the car and aiming it right up by his face. Is that laser? Not sure. Detector (I was heading the other way) picked up nothing.

Valentine One has full-time POP™ Protection. Just plug in, light up, and you’re covered. Why should it be any other way?

It shouldn’t. But certain famous brands have “Selectable POP.” It’s a special operating mode you must activate. Otherwise you’re not POP protected.

There’s only one reason for Selectable POP—the “famous brands” company doesn’t have the technology to make a full-time feature you can live with. Why? Because those detectors poorly distinguish real radar from a thicket of false alarms. So they give you “Selectable POP.” Use it if you can stand it.

Beyond Ordinary
V1’s warning range on POP is beyond the others, too. They trim back warning range on POP to reduce false alarms. V1’s superior engineering gives range on POP that’s beyond them, and beyond line of sight.

The “famous brands” cover only Ka band, too. V1 provides coverage beyond Ka—specifically the MPH Industries models Enforcer™ (K and Ka) and the BEE™ III (Ka).

The World as it Really Is
Probably you’ve noticed that many other detectors create false alarms that set off your detector. Hundreds of thousands of badly engineered detectors from BEL®, Cobra®, Radio Shack® and Uniden® spew local oscillator harmonics that are very similar in character to the POP burst used by MPH Industries.

So every workday morning, that NYPD highway patrolman is there in the "extra right lane" at the end of the east bound Tri-Boro, hiding behind a "broken down" van that magically disappears each day when he leaves.

It's definately laser, I got a good look yesterday. He stands outside his vehicle, on the edge of traffic and holds the unit up to his eyes like binoculars.

It's a fantastic spot, cause you never see the extra lane, or the van, or him, and he nails folks just as they top the apex of the bridge. It's a 40MH zone, most folks are doing 60. He seems to get the folks doing 70+. Imagine that ticket!

That, and the highway patrol who clocks folks from the sholder on the southbound Henry Hudson just south of the GWB exit. Does that same standing outside thingy.

Be warned.
