BMW 3-Series Coupe - Cabrio - Z4M Spy Photos
by Hans G. Lehmann

Three New Sporty BMW Models

BMW is preparing a number of new 3-series variants for launch within the next two years.

Besides the upcoming new 3-series Coupe, the most discussed newcomer is the 3-series convertible, because talk was about the car having either a canvas or a steel top.

Here now are latest prototype shots of the 3-series convertible showing, that the next 3-series cabrio will get a retractable steel roof plus a different front end styling to make it look a lot more sportier.

The prototype’s roof is clearly visible, it has three parts which will fold into the boot when operated. The front- and rear end of the convertible prototype are still under some disguise, but we have added one photo from our files showing another prototype of the Coupe version revealing the new front end . While the Coupe is scheduled for launch this summer in July, the convertible variant is only due a year later in 2007.

Power for the CC comes from a variety of six-cylinder engines ranging from 2.2 litre 180 HP to 3.0 litre 258 HP. The top of the line M 3 will get a V 8 4.0 litre engine delivering around 400 HP. Furthermore three Diesels will be available performing 163 HP to 272 HP.

Last not least the photos are showing the new Z4 M-version in full showroom trim. This one is for launch in August 2006.

I like the mz4. Why spy photos of the 3er? I've seen a couple on the street even in OH.

Not coupes you haven't. And I'll reserve my opinion on the new coupes until I see them in person. For some reason, that spy shot looks like the front end is all jacked up. Could it be a AWD coupe??? I'd love to see the 2 door AWD come back like the E30 325iX's.

I was thinking of buying an M3 when I'm done my school, but seeing that new Z4 M Coupe makes me think twice. The raw power of the car should be enough to sway me as it's something like 370.....

Yes,

I dont like the new 3er, but I heard the new M3 is a giant killer.
My dad flirted briefly with the idea of an ALPINA Z8, and is the owner of a Z4,
and its fun but not as fun as Mikes M 2000 Z3 roadster.

^^That car is primal.^^

The Z4 M series should be fun and I want to see the pictures of the roadster with the top down...

Z4M's will make 330 hp per BMW in the US market.

Shatty....Ah well. I'll take the difference off the price of the M3 and put a supercharger and nitrous on it....Realistically though, an M3 with a V8 would make my Chevy attic cousin drool and lose in a drag race.

I was just looking at these pictures again and I realized that the first car and the second aren't the same. The second has the orange on the mirrors, while the first doesn't. The first has foglights in front, the second doesn't. The b-pillar on the second is wider. The second's roofline comes to the rear very smoothly, and the quarter panels/trunk sort-of come up at an angle to meet it. The first's quarter panels/trunk stay relatively flat.
Or maybe I'm just seeing things.
