Hey. Heres my dilema. Drivers side mid and tweet cut out. Stock amp, upgraded 4 ohm 30 watt 4" comps, stock tweeter. When i turn my HU up, they come back on, and cut out later. New stock amp needed?

yes, your impedance on those aftermarket speakers are wrong (the audiobahns I think...?)

Anyway, happy new year, and I told you so.

RUN THEM OFF OF THE HEAD UNIT, take it off of the amp.

Put bass blockers in line if needed.

Happy new year buddy.

I had an old school JVC Khameleon headunit last year, stock amp killed it. I think the JVC headunit worked too hard.

I do have some bass blockers, ill see what happens...

I may get rid of the amp, that may be a good idea... Run the tweets off of the HU too?

JPWheelr

no, makes for funky impedance again

morganbressler
01-02-2006, 08:28 PM
Ok...but if i run the 4"s off the HU i lose their cross over points...

Im sure it will work. Ill figure something out

And why only on the drivers side does this happen?

And when is your wedding>?

JP, your design has a flaw with the way my stereo is.

If i eliminate stock amp, how do i get crossover action to my 4"s and Tweets? They are stock amp, while my sub and 5.25" comps have their own amps.

Any ideas? Active CrossoveR?

june 2nd, 2007 - she's actually at the bridal show as I write this.

those 4" speakers should have come with a crossover, or at least bass blockers. you could put a high filter and a low filter in line with the speaker to build your own.

What was really ever correct about the existing crossover in the factory amp for those speakers?...

Nothing, but there is one. There will not be with these 4" comps. Worst Comp Set EVER! They sound great ( i mean, you barely hear the 4" anyway, but miss it whne its gone), but the logistics are all wrong.

Hows the premarital living together going? Hate eachother yet?

this thread irritates me already, so i'm just going to shut up.

it's like watching a little goldfish swimming along all happy, enjoying life, unaware that he is about to be lunch.

or like seeing a high speed head-on crash.

Ben, when you shut up, the irritation seems to stop.

And what are you babbling about?

Don't you have to go paint a room or something?

Pre-marital life is great morgan, for me at least.

current project is the huge reef aquarium in the basement.

i'm now thinking about not using the 200 gallon and using it as a sump underneith a custom-built 300 gallon aquarium.

*sigh* just how much do i really want to spend on this.

why don't you worry about feeding your family, e-baller

Benny Z

holy shit! i just got a quote for a front piece of glass for a custom 300g. $509.67 plus tax for starfire (as clear as it gets) glass.

damn.

i think i'll stick with the 200g that i have.

feeding the kids. great. thanks for reminding me. i have to pick up cat and dog food after work.

Dont take your troubles out on me, dick.

Kidding, but seriously, i have a flaw in my system, and cant afford (well i can, but im cheap) new comps, so instead of being a homoghey, benny, throw in some advice.

Is this turning into a PPMB thread?

JPWheelr

no, it's not.

buy another factory amp if it bothers you that much, any 92-95 model (3/5/7/8) will do. should be a blaupunkt.

don't get so hung up on impedence matching. It's just resistence. Most of the time you'll only be working an amp more/less depending on the resistence of the speaker, but it will still work fine.

easiest/cheapest solutions is to get some capaciters of the right value for cheap to block the low frequency to them both. you can also block some high's from the 4, but doubtful you'd ever notice the difference, and it won't hurt it.

Yep, there's no free lunch when it comes to replacing the factory speakers! :D

How poor are you, anyway? CDT EF-51s and eD NINe.2 would run you, what, $350? What did you pay for those Audiobahn 4" co-axials?

morgan is the penultimate e-baller.

do not forget his farm, yacht, 80 car garage, towing business, and that he is a car stereo dealer, etc etc etc.

audiobahn 4" co-axials go for $18 at the "$ale of the $entury" down here at americas center... You know this Tim. Speaking of which, you should take Ms. Saint Joe's to the bridal show this weekend.

Yeah, I need that like I need a hole in the head!

Seriously, she's been planning for two years and we're not even engaged yet! She is a wedding photographer, though, so she get's exposure to lots of different things.

wow. we could go sooooooooo many different directions with this one!

...and since you haven't popped the question yet, it's fair game. it's only a matter of time before somebody plays.

Audiobahn comps were cheap. more then 18$, but cheap.

Get the job done, soudn great to me the way they are tuned. Cant really complain. The 5.25"s i have soudn good, the 4" is just filler, and the tweet sounds good.

I can out E-ball anyone if i try, nicca.

Ive got rovers rollin on sprees, bitches on their knees, and a whole lotta muthafuckin W M B'.s
