I just wanted to know if anybody has this setup, or knows anybody that does? Thoughts about this product???????

K40 CALIBRE Bluetooth enabled radar and lazer protection

"Dual Bluetooth® Radar Receivers. CALIBRE’s exclusive, patented design mounts separate Bluetooth enabled radar receivers behind the front grill and rear bumper ~ strategically positioned for the fastest capture of radar signals. Distinct verbal or tone and visual alerts let you know exactly when and where to look for police.

With it's Bluetooth & Datadyne technologies CALIBRE is simply the most powerful radar & laser protection system you can buy.

CALIBRE is also the only system you control with a hand-held remote, about the size of a key fob. And it's just as easy to use. With no permanently installed buttons to clutter your interior or to fuss with, you just click to select these modes: On/Off, City/Highway, Voice/Tone and Volume/Mute, then put your Wireless OneTouch™ Remote Control away until you want to change preferences.

Datadyne Technology™. Not satisfied with earlier capabilities, we completely redesigned our computer- controlled superheterodyne radar receivers. Now you get a significant increase in sensitivity and consistency to all police radar frequencies, especially the newer DSP Ka band radar guns (the most significant threat to motorists today).

CALIBRE detects all FCC allocated police frequencies including X, K and Ka Superwide. Also, VG-2 Stealth Guard™ passively and actively conceals your system from a police VG-2 Gun (radar detector detector).

With Laser Defuser® (optional) you’ll deactivate police laser capability by emitting a powerful infrared signal back to the gun at a pulse rate the gun can’t understand. It actually deactivates the ability of the laser gun to measure speed, while you receive audio & visual warnings that give you the precious time you need to react and reduce your speed. "

Forget that thing.

You want the Passport SR7 or SRX with laser jammers.

I had this installed recently. If you have any questions please just ask. More than happy.

I will say a couple of things though without getting into a huge debate about detectors and jammers:

1) A HUGE consideration for me was customer service. Calibre is a very small company compared to Bel and Escort. If there is a problem you get immediate response. You want to upgrade, will give you some money for your old unit. You don't like it, what is it not doing. You know what I mean? That simple thing that is SO important, customer service. The only other company that is similar would be Valentine Research.

2) Ratings. I have read all the reviews and comparisons in addition to dealer propaganda. Here is the deal. Unless you can actually see the tests yourself. I do put stock in Speed Measurement Labs though. An aquaintance is an officer and has training classes from them. They do seem legit. I have read reviews that say the V1 sucks, and that the RX75 sucks, etc. What to believe? Which brings me back to #1. I have driven my car with the V1 and the K40 on. They both perform as they should. Both have provided me with more than ample time to adjust speed.

3) Price. These things are not cheap. Remote systems are minimum $1000. For me I have a roadster. I don't like having to remove stuff and put it back and have my view obstructed. In my mind, this is a beautiful machine and I am not going to have a hunk of plastic hanging off my windshield. So I go remote. Now there are very few options, and really only 3 companies come to mind.

4) Teh Suck! Teh suck parts about the K40 is a) the diffusor and b) the remote. The remote is small. 1/4 the size of a credit card but a lot thicker obviously. I can see this getting lost. Well that remote is what changes modes and what not. Remember EVERYTHING is hidden! Well except for the blue LEDs. The Laser Difusor is OLD SKOOL tech. Like I think it was them and Lidatek that were the only ones making active jammer type things WAY back. And believe me, it worked VERY well back then. Times have changed and the police have more gear now. It doesn't work as well as others that are out there. BUT, I do know they are working on another "version" and I will be getting a trade up so why not?

So that about sums everything up. These things are expensive and when you start getting into those high dollar ranges, you really start getting into questions similar to: What is the BEST exhaust? What is the BEST cam? What are the BEST speakers? They ALL do the same things! You can read all the audiophile reviews about why a Nak is better than McIntosh HUs. But look, you are paying top dollar and both are very good units. It is no different in this realm either.

Install price for the K40 should be around $1600 installed with the diffusor excluding tax. Anything more and you are getting ripped. One stealer told me $2000. Plan on having your car in the bay for about 5 hours to have it completed.

So that is everything that went through my mind. Hopefully parts of it are useful. :)
