I was thinking on replacing my factory amp (Alpine?) for the factory
H/K that some M3s came with. I have 3 questions....

1- Is the H/K compatible with the Alpine harness?

2- Is the H/K significantly better than the Alpine?

3- Did the H/K cars came with Subs?

I have an after market system that I'm planning on installing,
but I really don't want to add to much weight to the car with
big subs, and two big Alpine amps. Thanks in advance for the

Trying this/doing this is a waste of your money. If you did search this was covered MANY MANY times.

I want to keep the weight of the car at a minimum. One of my rear
factory speakers broke, so I purchased the H/K speakers. I was
wondering if I needed the H/K amp to go with it. I don't drive the
car everyday, so I can't justified $3K in a sound system like I had
in my 325. I just want a slight improvement over the Nokia speakers.

The search I did was comparing just the two amps, no the whole
system. When you do that search, the posts with the same question
were no answered. So I guess the H/K speakers will work OK with the
Alpine amp? Thanks in advance

Yes, I have an aftermarket unit. Kenwood KDC-X859. You
suggest that I run the rears with the head unit (bypassing)
the factory amp? How about the front speakers?

yeah, if they are 4 ohm, I don't remember on the HK ones if they are.

Front speakers leave alone.
