View Full Version : AMG vs. M vs. Audi S (SoCal-Track Day)
SDSilverM3 12-31-2005, 04:13 PM Moderators: Please sticky this thread if possible.
Hi all. I'm posting because some of the guys over on MBWorld are trying to organize a track day at the California Speedway drag strip. This event would most likely be limited to AMG, M, and Audi S's only (undecided at this point). We're trying to gauge the amount of interest to see if it would be worth doing. There will be an entry fee for racers and such but we're trying to keep it reasonable assuming we have enough participants. The date has not been set yet due to the Cali Speedway folks being on winter vacation. However, we will post up more info when available.
If you know of someone who could possibly sponsor or partially sponsor the event please do let us know as that would be best.
Thanks! :)
bmwretard 12-31-2005, 07:01 PM would it include the infeild road course too?
'cause if it's just the dragstrip, F that. BMW's were intended for corners.

As of right now we're in the early stages and don't know if that includes the infield course. A lot of the guys (M3 guys included) are willing to drag the cars but not road race. Not everyone has the proper equipment/setup for road racing so participation for drag races are usually a little better. You are welcome to join if you change your mind but the event planning will go on regardless.
Mblaster 12-31-2005, 08:07 PM Sure the AMG guys are down...they don't have to shift.
Have fun.

It's all about going out there to have fun. There are no tracks in San Diego since Carlsbad closed down so I definitely miss the atmosphere. Plus I see you're at UCR so it's probably a short drive for you. :)
2000Z3M 01-01-2006, 05:13 AM if i can get leave and its not more than 175 im down
M3Jokster 01-01-2006, 08:36 PM yea, might be interested...
dub2shoe 01-01-2006, 08:40 PM If it's just the drag strip, then I'm out...If it's on any paved ground with turns then I'm in.
Mcruiser 01-02-2006, 01:01 AM Sounds like it's fun to watch. Count me in.
jworms 01-02-2006, 01:18 AM i've been there once with BMWCCA for the driving school. very fun track, i would definitely be up for it again. i'd also be up for it if too, even it's just the strip.
the bmwcca event was around $550 for 2 days, hopefully you can get a better deal. i was under the impression that it's an expensive track to run though :rolleyes
NakNak 01-02-2006, 01:27 AM If we do drags, the legal street drags for regular cars is $30 a car. Its mostly crustangs, SRT4's, GTOs, and hondas though.
m_specs 01-02-2006, 03:50 AM why dont you just have evosport sponsor the track day.. they own MBworld dont they?

Vadim from Evosport has already read the topic and did not mention anything about that so I guess it's a no, for now anyway. However, it would be great if that happened as they do both BMW's and MB's. :)
We will find out more about pricing on Tuesday as Cali Speedway is still closed for the winter break. If it's too pricey or there's not enough interest then we might have to do the regular street drags but waiting an hour or more to run = no fun.
tpb31 01-02-2006, 12:11 PM Yeah, I would be in Cali Speedway isn't too far away, been there numerous times on the infield for drifting or grip driving, but never dragged my car there, worth a shot. As for price, I don't think I have ever paid over $100 for only a drag event.
sergs99m3 01-02-2006, 04:03 PM street legal drags is 20 dollars a car not 30 and its 10 to watch + 10 to race so 20 dollars thnx serge
kobe 8 02-11-2006, 05:41 PM This event happening? I'm interested...
MVEED3 02-12-2006, 12:39 PM This sounds like a fun event. I'll make it out if my schedule is open and I get to run your car Ling.
