Which parts, if any are controlled by a computer on the CIS systems? Is it possible to use a controller like Megasquirt to adjust these functions? Also, if you were going to do a turbo - charged set up, is necessary to use the fuel distributor off of a production trubo cis car like an older volvo or saab?
Thanks

K Jet is a mechanical fuel injection system and does not need computers to run, you can unplug just about everything and it will be fine. The computer controlled stuff is just for emissions and all that changes is the amount of air that the air-bypass valve will let through to change the fuel mixture. It doesn't need an O2 Sensor, and infact it runs better when its disconnected. that way the engine is running in a closed loop and is allowing as much air as possible into the engine.
The thing about K Jet is not about fuel its about Air. The fuel system will allow as much fuel in as necessary, its large downfall is the air intake system, and all the restrictions in the intake.

This is incorrect, at least in '80 and above cars. The air bypass valve only lets more air in and closes when the motor is warm to control idle speed. Fuel mixture is control by regulating fuel pressure, via the warm up regulator and the frequency valve. The computer controls the frequency valve via the signal from the O2 sensor.
You can use fuel components from turbo cis cars. Look for parts from porche 931's, volvo 240t, and audi 5000s. Use a vacuum/boost sensing WUR from the audi to enrichen fuel and a fuel distributor from the volvo or porche. You can also use a larger vacuum advance from a cis car on your distributor to retard timing at boost.

K-Jet cars dont usually have computer control for emissions either. They pretty much are limited to EGR systems and maybe an O2 sensor (which you really wont find outside of the american market) as far as emissions go.
Unplugging just about anything will upset the system too. You need functioning warm up regs, temp sensors, etc to control the fuel system pressure. Without it, the whole thing goes to hell.
jrcrook, the 323i's system had a split chamber, vacuum controlled WUR too.
Yes, you can remove all the mechanical injection and run megasquirt if you wish. You need to go the whole hog, either run a later model (usually E30) front pulley so you have something for ignition pickup, or if you already have a vehicle fitted with the 7 pin bosch module, they now have provisions for that too. Either weld in fresh injector bosses to the k-jet manifold or get an injected one from a later model E30.
