Has anyone ever had a problem with installing the new 01' style tailights on a 97-99 e39?
I'm about to buy some OEM taillights from a 01 530, and the guy selling them said they might not wiring up properly because they had LED's. Honestly, I've never heard of anything like that but who knows, right?

Im not extremely familiar with the sedan taillights, but i am familiar with electronics. The problem he mentioned with the LED's is a problem. I believe the LED tails have a resistance correction box (dont know what they really call it) you have to use with them. I dont know if the connection on the lights are the same, but if they are, you will get a light out notification (as well as fast blinkers). The LED's dont draw as much current as bulbs, so the car will think a bulb burned out. You can do a couple things to make them work. Get the proper hookup box, or put a resistor in parallel so compensate. Hope that helps you out a little.

thanks man.... I'll prolly go with the non-LED's. They look just as good, and honestly they'll look ten times better than the stock amber/red that i have now.
