Hello everyone
<o:p> </o:p>
I toke my car today to a guy I know in the dealer’s shop to run a diagnosis report as he suggested after detecting some engine program fault on my screen.
<o:p> </o:p>
After reading the diagnosis report he said there is a fault in engine timing which needs to be checked and corrected ( I don’t know how ) beside some other faults in transmission.
<o:p> </o:p>
driving the car daily I didn’t notice any problem but well…
( btw it’s a 1997 model 528i )
<o:p> </o:p>
Anyway here is few parts of the DIS if anyone can tell what does all this mean?! And what causes fault in timing? Is it a timing chain issue? And why the DIS detected faults in transmission while the car shifts smoothly?
<o:p> </o:p>
<o:p>many thanks in advance</o:p>

The fault lamp (check engine ) can also be requested by faults in the transmission control unit.
If no faults are stored in the DME but the fault lamp is lit. check the transmission control unit.
