I was wondering what kind of intake is it that you guys use? I am about to do this swap and am going to do the 540i hfm at the same time. I know there isn't that much room for an E36 intake... so what do you guys do or use to get better flow?

I use the new bellow from M-pact the goes into euro HFM without a reducer and on the other side, a 4 inch piece of 3.5 into a K+N cone filter. Turner recommends that you have at least 4 inches between the filter and the HFM to help reduce the turbulence.

I dont have a picture with the new bellow, but here it is with the stock E36 bellow. Sorry, this is the best pic I have at the moment.

I just butted an ITG 3.5" filter up to the MAF meter with some silicon hosing...

Yeah, I've heard about that ITG foam filter. I was actually planning on going that route instead of K&N.

I know this post was forever ago but I have a 325 swap (essentially the same thing in the engine bay). I custom made a fiberglass snorkel that goes down in front of my wheel (behind my bumper) I used Rubber hoses from intakehoses.com and an ITG foam filter. I also have the big HFM and this set up must have givin' me 10 hp immediately. -If you want pics I can send them...-Rob
