View Full Version : Tentative BMW club racing schedule posted maranelloman 12-17-2005, 11:50 AM http://www.bmwccaclubracing.com/static/2005Series/06schedule.htm Scho 12-17-2005, 11:56 AM No Texas World Speedway????? Maybe it is just not complete yet. maranelloman 12-17-2005, 12:07 PM So far, this is the ==tentative== schedule. MAkard 12-17-2005, 12:19 PM So far, this is the ==tentative== schedule. Looks like the West Coast folks will have plenty of NASA races on our schedule to keep them busy! WOW! Missing Mid-Ohio, Watkins Glen, TWS, and Road Atlanta. Hope this is not a sign of things to come. maranelloman 12-17-2005, 12:30 PM Mike, remember that the schedule is dependent upon individual chapters seeking sanctions for dates they choose. I suspect there will be additions to this list! :) MAkard 12-17-2005, 01:14 PM Mike, remember that the schedule is dependent upon individual chapters seeking sanctions for dates they choose. I suspect there will be additions to this list! :) I surely hope so! Anybody have any word from the chapters that normally sponsor races at these tracks on whether or not there will be a BMW CCA CR event in 2006? Mid-Ohio Watkins Glen Road Atlanta TWS While we're at it... What about getting serious about putting Road America back on the schedule? OlderNSlower 12-17-2005, 01:25 PM I am quite sure that we'll have at least one race event at MidOhio and Watkins Glen. I'm fairly sure you'll see one at TWS. Road America is an issue because the Windy City Chapter is vehemently opposed to conducting a CR event. Tagging up with other groups in the past has not worked because of the very minimal amount of track time made available to the CR run group. maranelloman 12-17-2005, 02:28 PM Windy City Chapter is vehemently opposed to conducting a CR event. . Why is this? scottbm3 12-17-2005, 02:48 PM Why is this? I believe you'll find the same with the Hoosier Chapter maranelloman 12-17-2005, 02:56 PM But why? What are their reasons? John@BPG 12-17-2005, 03:07 PM Way to go Boston chapter for hosting THREE races. :buttrock scottbm3 12-17-2005, 03:13 PM But why? What are their reasons? Dave ; I wish I knew their reasons, here's a few thoughts. Costs versus return?? Not having to staff? Not that interested in racing? More Beer than Wine and Cheese? :D bdigel 12-17-2005, 03:30 PM I know that tarheel is proposing an oct race at road Atl and it is up to the peachtree chapter to get it done. OlderNSlower 12-17-2005, 03:35 PM Windy City is ALL about money and they have over $125K in the chapter reserve fund. I believe you'll find WCC is the club's wealthiest chapter as well as one of the largest. It's about politics from 5+ yrs ago that hasn't died. Badger Bimmers hosted Road America with the Midwest Council but there wasn't much track time and the attendance fell off. I tried to get Badger and Windy to co-host an event but there was a lot of friction between the two chapters and they won't even remotely consider doing a jointly hosted event. Bad blood from somewhere back when. Alex Lipowich might be able to provide some additional background but legend has it that one of the Windy City big cheeses was awarded a 13/13 in the one and only race that WCC hosted. Considerable pressure was placed on Scott Hughes to rescind the 13/13 and he steadfastly refused. The result was WC picked up their marbles and went home and has never played again. Many of the same personalities remain on the board of WCC. No idea what the deal is with Hoosier. There was a very successful CR event there with O'Fest when Hoosier was the host chapter, and Bluegrass Bimmers has put on great events that have been consistently profitable for them at Putnam. maranelloman 12-17-2005, 03:44 PM Thanks for the info, guys. krisko 12-17-2005, 05:04 PM A little birdie told me that Peachtree is racing with PBOC at Road Atlanta this year, likely in October. Whether or not there will be bmwcca points, who knows. OlderNSlower 12-17-2005, 05:29 PM I would assume that Peachtree would once again invite CR to participate. If it's a sanctioned event, it's a points event. krisko 12-17-2005, 06:20 PM I would assume that Peachtree would once again invite CR to participate. If it's a sanctioned event, it's a points event. That's the thing...in October 2004, PBOC raced at Road Atlanta and in July 2005 it was BMWCCA. It would appear the PBOC gets the nod again in October but maybe CCA can race for points similar to the winterfest setup. mijgilbert 12-17-2005, 11:59 PM Way to go Boston chapter for hosting THREE races. :buttrock John, the new NHIS race date in July is most tentative at this point since we don't have the track date yet. We're still talking to the track and to WMC to see who wants what track dates. I'm trying to get the second race there so the event would be 2 day instead of 1 as it was originally thought. Not sure yet though. Tremblant and October NHIS are still on... Too bad GVC may not do WGI this year - going from 2 at WGI to 0 is tough so we all need to work on Vince who in turn will work on the other GVC board members to get it done! -Mike MAkard 12-18-2005, 01:09 AM John, the new NHIS race date in July is most tentative at this point since we don't have the track date yet. In other words ... SUPPORT the chapters with your attendance. That's the best and ONLY way to keep the dates on the schedule. simonh 12-18-2005, 07:17 PM I believe you'll find the same with the Hoosier Chapter This isn't true, there is no need for us to host a race, bluegrass does a great job at Putnam and the buckeye chapter has Mid Ohio covered. The costs of Putnam have been going up and breaking even on our driving school at Putnam is becoming more and more diffilicult. So a club race is definitely not on the radar and it is not needed anyway. There aren't a huge amount of club racers in the midwest and I'm probably the only one that is pretty active with the Hoosier chapter. |
