For the past month, I've been living with my head unit temporarily going haywire....not letting me change the stations or change from CD to tuner...basically not responding when I press any buttons...today I finally had it! The cd got stuck in the player and wouldn't spit it out because it didn't recognize that a cd was in there!!!

One of my soldiers had the same kinds of problems with the same CD player, so I think I'm going with something else! I've only had it for 3 months.

My cda-7878 works perfect for the last 6 months, are you sure you installed it properly?

Yes, i don't think this is an installation problem, especially since i know another person with the same head unit, who bought it at the same time, and is having identical problems!

It sounds like Alpine made a design change from the previous cda models that is causing reliability problems. Call them up and see if there is a known problem with the 7893 that might be fixed for free by sending it to them for service.

Have you tried the reset? The reset button is near the volume knob at about 2 o'clock. Where did you get your deck? If you bought it from an authorized dealer, it should be taken care of. If not, you get what you pay for.

We sell tons of Alpine decks, including the CDA-7893. They're very reliable.

I agree with Jay. I sell tons of Alpine and have the cda 7894 myslef and have not had a problem with it and love it. Try the reset or taking it to wher you got it.
