View Full Version : Sport/race seats (Vancouver, BC)
hccyong 08-30-2002, 02:23 PM Some of us in Vancouver, BC are trying to get a group buy for sport/race seats. We expect to make a purchase by mid-September. It's still in the works, but it looks like it won't be limited to any particular brand or model. There are about 8 of us interested at this time, and we're trying to increase the numbers to get the largest discount possible. If you are interested, please reply and also include the seat of your choice, and we'll see if it's possible to get it. Sorry, no shipping, so buyers should be in the Vancouver, BC area. Thanks.
LEVOC///MPower 08-30-2002, 02:25 PM Any brand? any model? Can I get a BRIDE seat?!?!?

Most of us are getting Recaro, although I think Sparco is OK too. If you have got a particular request, we can try to ask to see if we can get it.
We haven't chosen a vendor yet. We're just trying to see how many interested parties we have and will go to the vendor with the best offer.
Sorry, I am not dealing with the vendor. A friend of mine is organizing it, but I'm helping him to post. I will try to get as much info as I can, however.
LEVOC///MPower 08-30-2002, 02:45 PM And what seat do you have in mind for your car hccyong?
People should really try OMP seats.. they are very comfortable and supportive as well, except for the reclinable one which is butt ugly.

I have not decided yet. Right now I am leaning toward the Recaro Sport. I need one that reclines and has height/tilt adjustment for the seat base.
hccyong 09-03-2002, 08:43 PM I dropped by Overseas Auto today. They are a Recaro distributor. First, they do not want to deal with Sparco. They can get them, but at list price, whereas the Sparco dealers can get them for cheaper.
They have a special on for the Recaro SE. The regular price is C$1125, but it is now going for C$600.
Here are the LIST prices before tax for other Recaros. We can expect to get a 15% discount if we get 2 Recaro seats, and 20% if we get 6 or more. I will ask for more discount if we really get a lot more people.
Ortho C$3450
DS C$3750
LXF C$1260
Trend C$1545
Style C$1695
Sport C$1575
Sport with option package (electric tilt/height/recline+ heat + cool) C$2400
SRD C$1125
They don't deal regularly with Momo, but at least there's a possibility of a discount if it's more than 2 or 3 seats. Here are the list prices for some Momos:
Street Racer C$990
Street Racer GT CR1050
RS2 C$795
RS2 GT C$850
They should be able to get seats within 2-3 weeks. Brackets/adapters for the BMW E36 is over C$500 from Recaro! He suggested getting a unit by Wedge Engineering that sells for about C$350 and includes sliders. There is a 4 to 6 week wait time on these, however. Perhaps we can look into other places for brackets and adapters.
Currently these prices and times are a little too high for me myself. But I will still help out with the buy if people are still interested.
How much for the Recaro Pole positions?? Will they ship to the US?? Any extra import fees/taxes we incur?
Amir
hccyong 09-07-2002, 01:11 PM Sorry, for some reason he didn't give me prices for Pole Positions. Sorry, no shipping.
Striker[x] 09-07-2002, 09:33 PM Interested!! I live in Richmond B.C. Wondering if we can go Sparco, I heard that Recaro and Momo's seats are getting outdated I guess in terms of look sand maybe engineering. Correct me if im wrong please. Anywayz if we buy the seats wouldn't it be better if we had a group buy for installation brackets as well so the seats wouldn't come to us just sitting their not being able to be used?
hccyong 09-07-2002, 09:53 PM The people I have spoken to say that Recaro is still the best, at least in terms of quality, reliability and engineering. I don't know about the styling though. Recaro seems to offer a greater spectrum of seats (from comfort orthopedic to race shells), whereas Sparco and Momo seem more focused (although they have a lot of seats too).
I personally have decided on the Recaro Sports because it is about the only seat that will offer lumbar support and height and tilt adjustment, and it's a seat that I can use on a daily basis, even though it may not offer the optimum support. But the prices here were not that great for Recaros it seemed to me, so I'm waiting until I return to the US. As a result, I myself am not in the group buy anymore. I can probably post the email of the guy who is doing the group buy, but I want to get his permission first.
Yes, it would be nice to get the brackets as part of the buy. The thing is that I think there are people with other types of cars, and I'm not sure if that would just make things too complicated.
hccyong 09-09-2002, 10:31 PM Please email Rico (ricklee@intertechpc.com) about Sparco seats, etc.
bbg325is 09-10-2002, 02:51 AM I'm in Seattle, and I am interested in Sparco seats- mainly the Pro2000 or Evo seat. If we can't get Sparco, the Recaro Pole Position looks pretty good, although I haven't sat in it yet. Anyone know how the P.P compares with the above mentioned Sparcos? I assume that the above prices are either for 1 seat in Canadian dollars or two in USD. Thanks for the info.
hccyong 09-10-2002, 02:54 AM The C$ notation signifies Canadian dollars (for one seat). Please contact the person I mentioned in my previous post. Thank you.
bbg325is 09-11-2002, 09:47 PM woops, feel kinda stupid for missing those c's.
bbg325is 09-19-2002, 10:37 PM Just wanted to see where we're at with the gb on seats, didn't hear from Rico about a Sparco update either.
Thanks!
hccyong 09-20-2002, 03:40 AM Did you email Rico? He will not be checking this forum.
