The GTS Challenge series has been added for Northern and Southern California as well as Texas. SCCA, BMW Club cars all qualify. Now TX and CA have been added to the existing East Coast and Mid-West series.

GTS is a 13/13 club series where you can go to Nationals. Mid Ohio in September 2006 running with the best in a non-contact environment.

you know I never understood why the SCCA never had a place for cars that ran in there own pro series. Try classing an E36 M3 WC GT car from the late 90's. Even when you run the stock tranny the car just doesn't class without rebuilding it.

Great Job, cant wait to run the series. Even better there is are national events and a National CHAMP....

Olivier;

The only thing is GTS runs with NASA, and if we don't have at least 20 of our own cars(GTS) we get grouped in with all the small bore stuff. I personally haven't had any problems, but it's hard to run a 13/13 series within a non 13/13 series. Don't get me wrong, I like running GTS, I just wish we could have our own race. I guess we need more participation. At least that's my limited experience in the In/Ohio midwest region. Though I do look forward to the Nationals at Mid-Ohio.:D

In the Southeast, GTS used to run with the big bore group that included Mustangs, Camaros, Formula Five Cobras, etc. Then for the summer Road Atlanta race we had the 'blitzkreig' group which included 944 Cup and GTS. Lo and behold 'blitzkreig' was another name for small bore as it also was spec miata and honda challenge.

GTS is unique in that we have all kinds of hp in the cars. Some of us were smokin' the big bore cars and some of us were nearly last in the small bore races. Perhaps the logical answer is to divide up the GTS cars into both groups although I'd prefer to keep all the GTS/944 cup cars together.

I don't see a dedicated race group until GTS/944 can field consistent 20-40 car fields.

Scott,
I can't speak for Midwest and Southeast regions, but the Mid Atlantic region will run EXCLUSIVELY with big bore starting in 2006. We tried something called the Autobahn group in 05, grouping GTS, Spec E30 & 944 Cup - that proved disastrous as too many racers of the other two series were/are just too inexperienced and unprepared to the higher GTS speeds. I finally got sick of it, myself being the victim of a blind spec E30 in turn 12/12a at Road Atlanta in practice this past summer.
As a result, I have gotten a committment from NASa Mid Atlantic to permanently move GTS to big bore. I would expect that Jim Pantas and Lawrence Mansier will move accommodate GTS in the same fashion as they're seeing GTS grow... and IT WILL!

I have broached that same subject over at the SCCA Forum. For whatever reason, they don't understand the question, and these are guys on the IT board. There has been talk of an ITR class, but if it doesn't include 40 year old Triumphs, it will only be a regional class, and probably will feature weight and restrictors for BMWs.:rolleyes

As far as I understood it (from a friend who's on the committee) SCCA is coming up with a class for ex-WC cars. I don't have any details other than I know they've been working on it.

Guys, anyone know what kind of torque numbers are coming from a stock euro 3.2 with stock engine management? I'm thinking that RWHP should be around 270-280??? Am I clueless:D

I'm curious as to what class I would be put into in the GTS series. I'm thinking it's probably gonna be GTS4.

Thanks,

Ken Arutunian

Yep, it will be me and you in GTS-4. Seems fair, doesn't it?

Ahhhaahahaha!!! Oh yeah, that is definitely fair! I just won't be competitive LOL

At this point, I just want to get the engine installed and running!!! It was supposed to go in today, but the person assisting with the install was sick:rolleyes Hopefully, I'll have it running next week.

Just ran the NASA season finale with the Florida region yesterday and they announced at the racers meeting they will be running the GTS challenge in 2006. I'm definately doing it.
