///M Rod 08-30-2002, 02:32 PM Ok, so that is the aluminum trim? They should call it the extended leather trim. I wonder if there is more to the aluminum than that one strip across the dash...
dysphunxion 08-30-2002, 02:41 PM It will be the strip across the dash, the lower part of the steering wheel, the surround to the shifter and I believe the door armrests.

I was just referring to the aluminum trim... the additional leather (or extended leather) is not part of the aluminum trim upgrade.
DriveBy 09-02-2002, 06:17 PM I ordered the aluminum trim option for my '03 because I thought the dark shadowline trim does not contrast with the Imola Red interior enough. By the way, I ordered TiS/IR. I am wk 37 so my parts are in a big bucket now making their way to the factory floor.
I actually like the gloss black trim in my '01 M3 because it makes a nice look with the grey interior I have.
I have 8600mi on my '01 and the engine is just starting to really sing. :devillook Needless to say my gas mileage is at an all time low of 17.5. (Who me?)
I was hoping for an engine modification as 350hp sounds extra sweet to me! Oh well, I'll enjoy this one even more now that I have the car down pat.

I also ordered the aluminum trim, something different I figured....looks good too. I guess I won't be doing C/F for a little while then.

Yeah, the CF will start to make it's way into the car when the aluminum trim start to wear (I understand it starts to wear quickly if you're not careful).

hmmmm...when i asked my dealer about the shadow chrome gear knob, he told me that they dont make them anymore, something to do with the fact that the color peels!
Is that what your refering to? also, whats th best way to take care of it?
Kevlar 09-04-2002, 06:50 PM I think they still make it ... it's the standard knob on the Z8.
The best way to take care of it? Avoid touching it (at least that's what I've been told).

the Z8 knob is aluminum, more on the silver side, the trim im talking about is titanium(darker)!
are you sure about not touching the trim? that's pretty odd! :95
