View Full Version : Foglight burnt out, what about yellow bulbs
The ///Man 12-14-2005, 04:32 PM I have the factory HID headlights and on my IS300 it had HID's with yellow fogs. What do you guys think of HID's with yellow fogs on a bimmer? http://www.xtremewhite.com/ORD-Light~bulbs-Nokya-Nokya-no-33102-1-1-1-1.cfm

I like it, I was thinking of doing the same.
If you have the projector fog lights and want to get crazy...get an HID kit for the fogs and put in a 3000K bulb! That would look awesome! But beware...you would get the "fog light" message on the On Board Computer because it would think the fog lights are burnt out.
Cheers
Scott
theDogger 12-14-2005, 07:57 PM There is a fix for the message...it is easy. I did it for my e34. You have to add a reley to trick it think that it see the OEM bulbs. I am at work right now I will post a link later tonight....

liquidtiger720 12-15-2005, 02:51 AM Thanks for that link Dogger. Any clue where one would be able to buy that relay + harness? That website listed is pretty hard to navigate.
theDogger 12-15-2005, 03:08 AM Go to your local Audio shop and tell them that you want a Bosch relay. Male and female. If they can't help you then Radioshack!
The website is fine. What are you using a 14" monitor?

which one do I want? - sorry...I know nothing about electronics.
Im thinking its the http://www.rallylights.com/hella/Relay_Mini_SPDT_12v.asp one. but still unsure which exact one. :(
eric77 12-15-2005, 03:40 AM PLEASE DO NOT DO YELLOW BULBS ON YOUR BMW, LET ALONE E39!!!!!!! :mad :mad
I despise yellow lighting on bimmers and even moreso on newer models. It isnt as bad on e36's and e34's but I shudder at the thought of yellow bulbs on an e39. They just scream ricer to me. :mad
theDogger 12-15-2005, 10:16 AM Here is the place to get you electronics online. I buy all my stuff here for installs . For the things such as relays. This is the one that you want. It is a standard 12V, 30A relay.

uNcLeWiGGLy 12-15-2005, 01:26 PM first off those arent xenons, htey are still halogen bulbs with a tiny tint of yellow.. i have yellow fog lights on my car now and unless you want it yellow you are going to have to get real hid's or you are going to have to get the yellow caps that lexus's use to make their lights yellow.. its a pice that firts over the bulb to give it that hue..
ive been having problems with my cheap yellow bulbs they are shit
theDogger 12-15-2005, 01:28 PM Here you may want this also. It is the dealer Wiring diagram for the 95 e34. It is tons better than the Bentley's.

Hawt.
liquidtiger720 12-21-2005, 12:33 PM dogger, are you running any relay's for your hid's? assuming you have them. Some say connected the factory 9006 plug into the ballast is okay, others say, run the power directly from the battery.
theDogger 12-21-2005, 12:49 PM well I do not have 9006 bulbs. I have Hella Euro Smoked Smiley headlights H1 bulbs. I set my HID's up and followed the steps in the link that I posted earlier. I would never ever run anything direct to the battery without some type of fuse in between...you are asking for trouble if you do not fuse it...

m_specs 12-21-2005, 01:15 PM if you guys are interested in the yellow HID kits (3500k) let me know..
DarthMaul 12-21-2005, 07:58 PM why don't people use regular bulbs or hid kit and the lamin-x film?
isn't that a lot easier? this way you can change your mind and reverse it back to white light...
just a thought...
m_specs 12-21-2005, 09:33 PM BECAUSE! jk. =P
you want to use these .. http://www.e6designs.com/brian/HID_yellow.JPG (HIDs)
