Well gang, there has been lots of debate and speculation about the weight savings of going to a CF roof. We are a Vorsteiner distributor, so I cannot speak to all the options. I have installed a Revozport one and had a OE one in the shop, and the OE and Vorsteiner are about the same weight, with the Revozport being a bit heavier.
So.........
Here are the results:

Almost 50lbs true savings off the top of the car (the worst place to have weight).
That is a huge gain IMHO. Not an inexpensive mod when you figure the cost of the labor, but truly worth it if you are after a great handling and quick M3. And it looks a bit insane! =^)
Thanks

So by the looks of the specs, I assume this is going from a OE sunroof application to a carbon fiber sunroof delete application. Is that correct?
So if you keep the sunroof, weight savings would be around 33lbs. Is that correct?

Thanks guys. I updated the spreadsheet to make it more clear. Sorry for any confusion.
If you keep the sunrrof and go to the Vorsteiner CF roof for sunroof cars, then you will save approx 20 lbs.
Thanks

How much was the install cost? Just curious.

22-24 hours. So you need to plan at least 2K.

One more question: I dont think you included the weight of the sunroof motor & related mechanics. Would this lead to additional weight savings?

Verifies my decision to have had the car built without the sunroof!

so what happens if you roll your car? i assume it's not autoclaved, it'll shatter no?

Actaully, again that goes to show you what assuming does! :D
The roofs we sell, OE or Vorsteiner, are vacuum formed dry carbon indeed. Like any carbon it will shatter at some point. However, this method allows a lot of flexibility prior to breaking, unlike wet lay-up.

I am glad that I did not pay $1150 for a hole in the roof.
