Hey gang, we finally got the E34/E39 checklists up on the site. Please let me know if we should be adding anything to it, but I think we covered most of what we see on a regular basis.

Enjoy!

(MODS--Please Sticky if you can, thanks!)

Typo on the main page... you wrote 1982 for the year.

Also, the e34 v8 also has a plastic thermostat housing

the thing with the 02 sensors is right on!

fellas..try this link: http://www.edgemotorworks.com/checklists.htm

I found the link broken as well...and just went to the edgemotorworks "home linK" that was posted and then worked my way over to the "check list". You'll see the link for the e34/e39 if you click the link I posted in the first sentence above.

Hope this helps. :)

See that this was addressed, but perhaps going back and editing the link in the first post would be a good idea???? :)

Wouldn't it be easier to fix your original post??? Or should we see how many people post that your "link doesn't work"?

I would also add that in area's that have hot summers, if some one finds a good deal on an overheated car. It usually means a cracked head, not a head gasket.
I have parted out 3 e34s that were getting water in the oil in the past year. All have been a cracked head VS a headgasket.

I just found this pic and I traced the belt routing in Paint.

I figured it might be helpful since the Bentley doesn't do a good job explaining.

Water pooled under car, driver's side toward firewall. Radiator & Thermostat & Water Pump 4 mos old and 2500 miles already. No problem before yesterday. No overheating, no blown or cracked hoses, (that I can see), no apparent leaks. What are three hoses going thru firewall? One appears to be compromised at the boot. HEEELLLLPPPPPP please

Excellent write up. I've experienced several of the common issues myself. Great info the the n00b 5er owner.

My money is on the heater valve. We have seen 6 fail in the last few weeks on v8 cars.
