If the e46 M3 Competition model (2005) has more HP than the regular e46 M3?

A friend of mine has one, and it's much faster than a regular e46 M3.
And this was before he added intake, exhaust, and reflashed ECU (matched to the intake and exhaust).
I know it's a little bit lighter, but exactly how much I don't know.
Thanks for any info.

It has no extra HP and it isn't any lighter either.

Bren wouldnt it be like 50lbs lighter due to the wheels?

The ZCP's have hand picked engines which showed the highest numbers on the factory dynos. A good 20 to 30 HP on average.
IB is also good for another 15 lbs of trq.

This was confirmed to me by the M division head some time ago when we were having a drink together after a round of golf...

Dont forget the weight reduction, thanks to the fewer buttons on the sterring wheel...

Ok, so if it's the same..........
Why is it faster?
I mean MUCH faster.
As in a 40-120mph race resulting in a 5-6 car length difference.
Now that's pulling pretty hard.
So, besides the expected laughs from the M3 owners who didn't buy (couldn't afford?) the Comp model, I would like a serious answer.
I've already had to deal with a few kids and their stupidity on here, so please, serious answers only. If you don't know, don't respond. Thank you.

The wheels are about 5 lbs lighter than the 'regular' 19" wheels. But the rotors are larger so maybe it's a wash. Leave the sunroof off the option sheet and that's 40lbs savings. Dunno, supposed to be exactly the same engines.

Serious answer here...

The Idea of the ZCP being much faster than a "Normal M3" is absurd in my opinion...I'd chalk it up to driver error on the part of the normal M3 driver.

Thats as serious as it comes...The ZCP cars make no more power, aren't any lighter...nothing adds up there.

Now thats a no BS answer up there.

You cannot run a race such as what you described and then make a generalized statement that ZCP M3's are faster then non-ZCP M3's. There just is no sound basis for that conclusion especially when you compare the equipment on both cars. A decrease of 50lbs or even 100lbs is not going to result in 5-6 car lengths giving similary skilled drivers. And there in is the big variable of many.

That's just it, I'm NOT trying to generalize, I'm trying to get an explanation.
And I've seen it myself, that's why I'm wondering.
(There is too much emphasis on driver error, and that cannot be used as the same excuse.........ok, maybe once........twice.........but 6 times???)
And also, in-gear racing from a roll, for example from 60mph in 3rd up to redline........still at least 1 car length.
Obviously there can't be any driver error here (what, maybe his floor mat was stuck under the accelerator pedal?).

Maybe he has a freak on his hand!! I think there is no difference at all. The difference is more in the handeling of the car. Man I wish I had the breaks from the ZCP!!

See anything that would make it faster in a straight line?

So, there 'something' missing in your equation.
