Im having some issues with my car ever since it got cold, bad cold starts, eratic idling, things of this nature. When I let off the gas completly it drops to about 400rpm and then goes back to its normal idle of about 700rpm so everytime i stop it basically sounds like the car is about to die. It sounds like my injectors got a whole hell of alot louder and it has seem to have lost power, and has lost alot of the power at high rpms. So what I need is an idea of what might be causing this problem and shop recommendations. Im thinking its a fuel related issue?
If only I had the money for a new engine..

Yep. Idle control valve. Pull it apart and spray some carb cleaner in there.

you were right ICV was nasty and sticky. Plus the air boot had a huge crack and my air filter is kinda nasty. Original seller lied about changing the filters!
Anyone have a spare air boot. I really dont feel like paying S&H. And reccomendations on an air filter. I heard not to go K&N.

my air boot was cracked and the filter is dirty so Ima getting a new boot and filter then we will see.

I heard wrong and started reading, they said dont go K&N cone filter unless you build a heat shield. But ya I ordered the K&N drop in.

you can run a K&N as long as you dont have an HFM and you have the vane air flow...

still have an idle problem except now the idle is between 1000 and 1500.

Try a tune up and clean out all that carbon build up in that engine....that'll probably make it run a lot better....
