Car: 1997 540i, 6 speed, 90k miles, 19" wheels, running crap 91 az fuel.
Mods: Dinan ecu flash, Custom High Flow Cats, high flow 3" custom exhaust after cats all mandrel.
I will be uploading scans of the Dyno sheets shortly here are the #'s
Peak Wheel HP: 265
Peak Wheel Tourqe: 288
That transfers to 328/HP @ crank and 357/lb tq @ the crank!
This was on a Dyno Dynamics dyno. 70-75 degrees what ever elevation Scottsdale is... www.DYNOCOMP.com
From my research these seem to be strong #'s and im pretty impressed that a car of that mileage did so well!

Did you calculate right? I figure 319 crank hp based on 17% drivetrain loss, and 312 based on 15%.
I pulled 243 whp @ 93 degrees with the same mods on a 540iA.

I was told by them that the Dyno Dynamics has about a 24% drivetrain loss, which they say is higher than most but that is because it is more of an accurate mesuraring because it simulates the road drag.

Those sound about right. My '99 540i/6 completely stock put down 255hp/279trq. to the wheels. Then I installed a magnaflow muffler and removed the resonator. My numbers jumped to 258hp/ 289trq. I bet she suprises a lot of people.

I was always told 17% for a manual transmission, 14% for a transaxle, and 20% for a slushbox. thats the extent of my knowledge.

It is different on all Dyno's there is no "benchmark" to base a dyno on, on Mustang dyno's they are typicly 12-17% on Dyno Dynamics such as what I was tested on they are 22-25% for 2wd and 30-35% for AWD, then there are a hand full of others and most average 12-25% on 2wd and 25-35% for AWD applications.
Just my 4yrs of industry knowledge & .02 cents!

Shouldn't drivetrain loss be the same regardless of what dyno unit any car was being measured on? :dunno

Mine pulled 260 at the rear wheel with only Dinan Stage 1 software on 89 octane at 80F...all else stock. So that about 305hp at the crank?....hmmmm...
