Ah this is a great question, as I myself was comparing the two not long ago. After having seen both in the field I like the M5 rims. I don't feel I need to have m engine just for the wheels. I did a search on this topic and found a lot of people say the m parallels are the best looking wheels. Just because m parallels are featured in the James Bond 750il, right? I still like the m5 wheels. That's my conclusion.

MPars rock for a number of reasons;
1. Timeless/classic look
2. Shows off the brakes better
3. Less complicated design means you arent distracted from the beauty of the car itself
4. because I said so :stickoutt

Unless you have the M5 kit, I think the M5 wheels would look out of place on a E39. Definitely get the M-Pars!

Gotta go with the style 37's baby! M Parallel all the way. The M5 wheels are too busy for me, and yes I value my time too. When I can afford it I will change to 18" M Parallel's.

eBay baby!!...I bought mine off a company from eBay, but I forgot the company name, sorry. But remember to look carefully at the adds! some people claim that they are selling the M-par rims but look totally different. Good suggestion---> any M-par rim over 19 inches is probably a "knock-off" Good-Luck!!

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.. but I believe all Mpars for E39's are replicas. The hub on the OEM Mpars are 72.4 and the hub on the E39 is 74.1

I came across same question and thanks to a number of BMF.C member i came to the conclusion to get the M Pars they are amazing .... with red caliphers and new cross drilled breaks they are Sporty looking esp for the 18 size... just look at my sig

M-pars are hot. So are M5. The parallels, however, are really sporty wheels with simple lines. It just seems to flow better with the classy BMW body. However, this is not to say that M5 wheels don't look BADASS!

depends on what you want. If you want replicas- then buy them from thewheelexchange.com if you want real ones, then expect to pay almost 3000 for wheels plus tires. OEMs from bekkers is over 2000 just for the wheels.

I have the replicas and they are very nice but i prefer the OEM color/finish more. OEM is more mat silver, replicas are more bling.

I think I might go with factory reproduction since I can pick them up and they are cheaper than wheelexchange and grimpy recommended them

man I wish I was a baller at times like these and would click and buy the whole tire/wheel set from wheelexchange

M5's all the way.... I see MPars on older 7's all the time. It's a nice looking wheel but I prefer the M5 wheels. There will be some that say M5's belong on M5's, but it's not a badge. They are wheels. I finally put a set on my car this morning and it looks great :alright . I'd post some pics, but I've been out all day and now it's dark. Calling for snow tonight and into the week:mad .

I'm so glad most of you guys like M Parallels... this way, with E39 M5 wheels, I can find my car in a parking lot instead of having it look like all of yours! :lol

I love the look of both wheels - I'd been contemplating both along with style 42s. You might want to take a look at the Rondell style 58 wheels in 18" - looks like a style 42 but without the rivets and has a slightly larger lip I believe.

After spending a decent amount of time cleaning my style 42s, I'm actually thinking about getting some M-pars though...

I think they both look great, It has allot of factories on what wheel would fit exacly the car, styling, lowering, color etc...

Myself anyway choosed the M5-wheels, I think they look slightly better, but I wouldnt bang the M-pars either! :)

Also-
I think that 18 is about as big as you can go on the E34 without looking too blingerific.
19s on a well dropped E39 look pretty good, and 20s on the E39 look just plain stupid (IMHO)

I think you need to go up to the E38 to make 20s look anything more than GHETTO!
