Tonight when i got home i noticed a funny smell coming from my '93 325is after i turned off my car. I pinpointed it coming from the exhaust. It smelled like sulfur or rotten eggs. Does anyone know what this could be?

Usually, it's in sour crude. Kell 11-29-2005, 04:57 PM It could be your catylitic converters, or the actual baffles in your muffler could be corroded. Notice that on mine after driving hard for a few minutes. At first I though it might be the clutch pack, but I now think it is the cats although haven't smelled it since I had the car smogged in January. themadhatter 03-27-2006, 06:48 AM classic sign of bad cats, time for a change. lordzeke 03-27-2006, 01:49 PM I got a 325is also, and I used to have that problem after I drove it hard. I've heard people say it's the CATs going bad, but I don't believe so. I've passed smog twice since it started happening, so that's at least 2 years on these supposedly bad cats, and I live Cali with our strict emission laws. I started going to a different gas station and that seemed to help, I never smell it anymore now. |
