Ok, over the last week I have been fixing up a BMW that I just got. I had a key made for the outside locks as the ignition had been replaced and it was the only key I had. As they made the key they triggered the double locks and everything locked perfectly. Unfortunately it wouldn’t release them. Luckily I found a keyless entry/alarm system was installed but had a blown fuse. I replaced it and all locks except the trunk unlocked. (Thankfully, I really needed gas and the fuel fill lid was locked!) It was an old Foxcon system with a 2 button key fob Lock/Unlock. Even using the key will properly release the double locks. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The issue is the trunk will not open. I can hear the actuator but it sounds weak. The key will not turn in the trunk and is the correct key. It appears the trunk is double locked. I need advise on how I can get into the trunk so that I can further troubleshoot. Note the rear seat does not fold down.

Any Ideas?

I'm not good with electronics, i'd suggest posting in the E30 specific section.

One thing you might try is applying power to the actuator at the control unit connector. You'll need a schematic.

The other thing you can do is drill out the lock cylinder.

Ok applying direct power would be difficult at best as I have a keyless entry that is also tied in and I have no wire map for that. So I am just as likely to fry it! If anyone knows a point further down the line I can find the wires and their color codes I would really aperciate it. (willing to try)

I dont think drilling the lock will help as I believe the double lock actuator would still pervent it from unlatching. (Am I correct?)

Another option that was presented was removing the rear seat to gain access and dealing with it from there. Is it possible to remove the rear seat without getting into the trunck or are there trunk side bolts?

Also I know some BMWs have sheat metal backing the seat. If I cut that out will I lose structual stability?

Final Idea, unbolt the trunk hinges via the rear speaker holes. (Is this possible?)

Ideas and opinions welcome.
